Two tough home matches await us, next Saturday v Bristol City and the following Tuesday v Preston North End.

First up an early kick-off against that lot over the bridge.

After another disappointing away defeat at Derby last Saturday the Swans will look to regroup and sort out our set-piece weaknesses in training this week.

Whilst we have greatly improved our set-pieces in the opposition box we are still struggling in our own box defensively under the guidance of new first-team coach Diogo Medeiros and analyst Harri Mathias.

The Robins beat us convincingly 3-0 in the reverse fixture last November with Matos looking on from the Stand, two days before he was appointed.
Two of their three goals came from crosses into the box. It was O’Dea’s one game in charge and our leading scorer Vipotnik was on the bench together with Franco, Widell, Yalcouye and Inoussa. Cabango and Tymon were also missing through suspension.

Bristol’s away record has been average last 10 games W3 D2 L5 F9 A16 yet in their last game they won 2-3 at high flying 5th place Hull on 9 Feb.

They didn’t play last Saturday, it was the FA Cup, and they were due to play at Port Vale but the match was postponed, pitch unplayable.

We have a free week ahead of us whereas Bristol play Wrexham on Tuesday night at Ashton Gate.

Can we keep it up?
 
Our next opponents Bristol City played out a 2-2 draw at home to Wrexham on Tuesday night, Bristol scoring a late equaliser in the 89th minute.

It’s tight at the top half of the table.

The draw leaves Wrexham on 48 points in seventh place on goal difference from Derby in sixth place. Bristol City are on 47 points.

The difference between Wrexham and Swansea is six points but the same number of wins.

So many points dropped by Swansea to late goals this season. If only we had drawn those matches instead of last minute losses we would be up there in the play-offs instead of 16th place.

If you can’t win make sure you don’t lose should be our mantra in games.
 
Not a great game but a fantastic win. Would like to see us have a bit more control and possession in games but that was always going to be a tough, physical one today and we came through it brilliantly.

You get the sense that Matos has been focusing a lot on the counter press and we’ll hopefully look at controlling things a bit more after he gets a full preseason.

Vipotnik is inevitable at the moment, hopefully he gets 25+ so we can get maximum value for him.
 
Excellent win, not pretty by a long way but good to see that we can grind out wins like that because Bristol City were a tough output. Armstrong up top was a handful ad fortunately he missed his best chance early on after turning Cabango inside out.

Always tough for us to control games when we've got Fulton in there and not Stamenic and we sat too deep in the first half.

We desperately need better players either side of Vipotnik. Nunes was poor (has played well previously) and Eom struggled too.

We took our main chance of the game and thankfully didn't need that 2nd goal that always seemed to be a bit beyond us.

Another goal for leading scorer Vipotnik and a crucial one which decided the contest in our favour. It was a tough match with no quarter given and end to end stuff, four bookings for them, two for us. Robins hit the post twice but otherwise Swans defended well and deserved the win, sweet revenge after the convincing reverse fixture defeat.
 
Only two of the top six in the table won yesterday, Coventry and Wrexham.
Middlesbrough drew, Millwall, Ipswich and Hull lost in the most open Championship for years. From 7th to 16th in the table have their eye on the play-offs and who would have thought that Leicester and West Brom would be fighting relegation at the bottom of the table.

Could have done with Wrexham dropping 2 points as now they look good for that final play-off spot. Talking of play-offs sounds daft for us but with just 6 points in it and a game at wrexham soon, you just never know! Our away form will be our downfall, we should have never lost at Derby last week.
