Steve Cooper has a dilemma in who to pick this Saturday after the injection of three quality players into the squad.
First name on the team sheet of those loanees for me would be Gallagher, who has proved himself as one of the top midfielders in the Championship with Charlton this season, as we saw first hand a few weeks ago at the Liberty.
How can he split up the centre-back pairing of Wilmot and Cabango after such a solid display against Cardiff? But centre-back Guehi is waiting in the wings, the captain of the England U-17’s World Cup winning team under Steve Cooper a few years ago, he will be desperate to start. Not so lucky is Mike vdHoorn, out for a further three weeks with an inflamed knee injury. Joe Rodon starts full training next week with Jordan Garrick joining him fit again.
With all of them fit, Wilmot, Cabango, Guehi, Rodon and vdH, we have 5 centre-backs vieing for two positions. I wonder if Wilmot will be recalled by Watford this month, still two weeks to go to the end of the window.
Brewster showed promising signs in the Cardiff match that he can be a force to be reckoned with and I hope he keeps his place,
Carroll, John and MacKay all played for the U-23’s a few days ago in an impressive 5-1 win over Middlesboro at Landore. I wonder if they were in the shop window?

WIgan manager Paul Cook’s comments after their last away game, a 2-3 win at Birmingham:
"I feel confident we can get out of trouble. We can certainly cause most teams problems and over a season the league table doesn't lie. We create chances, we have got pace, energy and legs. We are on 23 points and we've got to make sure we get a points tally other teams will find hard to beat. If you win football games you won't be in trouble. We've just got to keep going. We've lost so many games in the last minute and stoppage time, it's untrue."

Wigan right-back Dujon Sterling is doubtful after he picked up a hamstring injury against Leicester in the FA Cup. Also they will be without defender Charlie Mulgrew following his return to Blackburn.

A London newspaper recently reported that it was not Chelsea that were pushing for a recall from Charlton, but Gallagher’s representatives.
They are believed to have wanted the 19 year-old to join a side in the hunt for promotion. The revelation that Gallagher’s representatives pushed for another loan move to be finalised possibly shows that Chelsea did not have the final say in the decision.

One win in the last fifteen matches, 254 mins without an away goal before their last away match, a 2-3 win at Birmingham. It only took them 16 mins to break down our defence though, Dowell raced down the left, beat Roberts, and crossed to right back Byrne who had all the time to fire home, poor defending.
We equalised 3 mins later, Gallagher with a through ball to Brewster, whose left footed shot beat Marshall (ex-Cardiff goalie).
It wasn’t until the 67 min that we took the lead. Celina raced down the left, beat Byrne and passed to Ayew who back heeled the ball into the net.
Wigan gave us a tough game and pressed hard at the end for the equaliser with their giant forward 6’5” Welsh International Keiffer Moore coming on to try and disrupt our rookie centre- backs to no avail.

We got done easily early on because we pressed them high with no success. Over exposed ourselves on our left and they got the ball into space on the opposite side and took full advantage. Luckily and unlike previous home games, we got back into it and looked capable of scoring a few. Gallagher looks a really good player and the type we've been crying out for. Brewster also looks more suited to our style compared to surridge who was too slow
