Swans v Rotherham

Back to league action at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday 21 Nov at 3pm when we entertain Rotherham, in the first of a crammed match schedule of 12 games in the next 6 weeks.
On the Swans injury front the good news is that Ben Cabango and Kyle Naughton are fit again.
Not so good are doubts over the fitness of leading scorer Andre Ayew and key defender Marc Guehi, who both returned early from international duty.
Steve Cooper: "It was more precautionary than anything else. They’d had a really busy schedule and they'd played every minute of every league game up until now, and then going into a full on international camp, they're naturally going to be tired.
Like everybody, they’re at risk of fatigue and from fatigue you can start feeling muscle soreness etc. They’re doubts I guess for the weekend, but we haven’t made a final call on it yet."
Our two players out with long term injuries, George Byers and Morgan Gibbs-White, are on track with their recovery and making good progress.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne has fitness doubts over left-back Joe Mattock who limped off with a hamstring injury in their last match against Luton, His likely replacement, Billy Jones, is back in training after a knee injury.
First choice on-loan goalkeeper from Chelsea, Jamal Blackman, is back in contention after an ankle injury, with deputy Viktor Johansson waiting in the wings.
Warne on the Swans:
“The front three are really dangerous and the wing-backs put a lot of work in, they are a possession based team as they always have been, which is fundamentally how they’ve been playing for many years. They have threats all over the pitch, but that is no different to any other Championship team.
These are the games that the lads should go out and enjoy, so we’ll go there trying to play on the front foot and try to cause them problems. They have got quality, but so have we, hopefully we can go down there and put in a good performance on the day.”
Warne on the Preston win last time out:
“We were pleased with how we played and it was a very satisfying win. There could have been more goals for either of the sides but to come away with the victory set us up really well for the international break.

I don’t think we’ve got the points our performances have deserved so far, but I can’t keep saying that. So to get the win against one of the best away sides in the league was really pleasing.”

Starting today, Friday 20 November, Championship clubs can name up to nine substitutes in their matchday squad, with five permitted to take to the pitch in any fixture.
With these new rules in place, the better quality squads will more likely have the advantage, namely the three teams just relegated from the PL, Watford, Bournemouth and Norwich.
For ourselves, our squad is much stronger than last season, which will help us, but we look a little light for goal scorers.

The teams:

Swansea City: Freddie Woodman; Ben Cabango, Ryan Bennett, Kyle Naughton; Connor Roberts, Jay Fulton, Matt Grimes (captain), Jake Bidwell; Yan Dhanda; Liam Cullen, Jamal Lowe.

Substitutes: Steven Benda, Joel Latibeaudiere, Ryan Manning, Korey Smith, Kasey Palmer, Wayne Routledge, Tivonge Rushesha, Oli Cooper, Daniel Williams.

Rotherham United: Jamal Blackman, Ben Wiles, George Hirst, Jamie Lindsay, Wes Harding, Michael Ihiekwe (captain), Angus MacDonald, Matt Olosunde, Matt Crooks, Dan Barlaser, Florian Jozefzoon.

Substitutes: Viktor Johansson, Adam Thompson, Kyle Vassell, Mickel Miller, Trevor Clarke, Michael Smith, Billy Jones.
