Swans v Peterboro

Vital Football Legend
After experiencing the high and lows of a shock win against promotion favourites West Brom and a shock defeat at struggling Birmingham, all in the space of three days, we move on to the next match.
Last time out we went to Birmingham full of confidence with two high profile wins. Birmingham were a hopeless case, they had lost their previous 7 matches, scoring 1 goal (scoring 0 goals in the last 6 matches) and conceding 13 goals. We went there, didn’t turn up, played shockingly badly and lost 2-1. There are no excuses for this defeat. Their manager Lee Bowyer said they could have scored five. The excuse tired players does not compute, that’s what squad rotation is for.
Next up its Peterborough at the Swansea.com stadium this Saturday.
Founded in 1934 they’ve played at the London Road Stadium since their formation and have just been promoted from League One through the play-offs after spending eight years there.
For the Swans we are unsure which team will turn up, the tired one or the energetic one, but what we do know is that they will have had a week off, match free.
As a yardstick to current form Peterborough beat Birmingham 3-0 last month, and last Saturday they beat QPR, who are no mugs, and are hovering around the play-off places in the table.
However, like ours, their away form is not very good, they won at Hull last away match but had lost the previous five away matches.
We link up once again with an ex-Swan, former Swansea Academy goalkeeper David Cornell, now aged 30, from Waunarlwydd, who was released by us in 2015. He has since played for Oldham, Northampton and Ipswich on his travels, before arriving at Peterborough this summer, where he has recently played seven straight games, taking over the shirt from Christy Pym, who was dropped after a big post-match bust up with manager Darren Ferguson.

Peterboro Manager Darren Ferguson sounding confident here:
“Russell’s sides play in a very particular way. Swansea are playing exactly like MK Dons played under him last season. It’s a very attractive, expansive way of playing, but they can also be very open and we can certainly exploit that.”

It seems as if Ferguson has a point and knows how to score against this style of play. Here are the results when Peterboro played MK Dons under Martin last season:
MK Dons 1 - Peterboro 1 (last Dec)
Peterboro 3 - MK Dons 0 (last Jan)

Ben Hamer, Ryan Bennett, Ryan Manning, Korey Smith, Matt Grimes (c), Olivier Ntcham, Jamie Paterson, Joel Piroe, Jake Bidwell, Kyle Naughton, Ethan Laird

A resounding win against Peterborough, three goals up at half-time, the Swans were dominant and rarely allowed the Posh to have the ball.
Either Peterborough were poor opposition or we are improving drastically, whatever, it was good to watch and very one sided.
Amazingly we scored after 2 minutes without Peterborough touching the ball, Laird with the assist, dribbling past his marker and crossing for Bidwell to steer home. It got better after 13 minutes, Piroe turning and firing in from twenty yards. Right on half time Ntcham scored the third.
We should have scored more such was our dominance but this win moves us up the 13th in the table on 20 points, 4 points short of a play-off spot.
Two tough away games coming up and we’ll do well to get some points from them. Our home form is seemingly sorted but we now need to focus on our away form.
