Swans v Millwall

And so we move on to the next match. It was not the result we wanted last Saturday against Hull, a 0-0 draw in the end, but a much better performance.
It’s another home game coming up, this time Millwall are the visitors on Wednesday night 15 Sept at 19:45 (live on Sky Sports Red Button and Swans TV).
Fresh from their 1-1 draw at league leaders WBA last Saturday, Millwall will be full of confidence, and looking for their first away win, with two draws and a defeat on their away travels so far this season.
After 5 points from 6 games this season it’s not looking good so far for the Swans and we need to start picking up points soon, there is already a 9 point gap between us and the top of the table. Patience is the key and it’s frustrating but we have to give RM the time to make his ideas work.

The ref for Wednesday night is newcomer to the Championship, John Busby, in only his fifth game at this level.
Recently he dished out 10 yellow cards in the Barnsley v Coventry match, 8 of those for Barnsley in their 1-0 home win, ex-Swan loanee Victor Gyokeres missing a penalty for Coventry.
Let’s hope he’s better than the diminutive Keith Stroud, last Saturday’s ref, who made some puzzling decisions against us. He was booed off the field at the end after waving away two penalty appeals for the Swans late in the game, one a stonewaller for a tackle on Laird, then he goes and books Paterson for impeding a Hull player straight after Paterson was himself impeded in the box only for Stroud to wave play on.

Much the same as the Hull match, plenty of possession, pretty football, but no penetration. Four shots on target each as Millwall kept their first clean sheet of the season. Again poor match officials but we can’t keep on blaming them. Borefest first half as we passed the ball to death. The game livened up in the second half, and both sides missed chances.
Matt Grimes free kick was well saved just after the restart. Piroe, and Grimes again, had shots saved. Liam Walsh, making a surprise return after a hamstring injury, brought out an excellent save from Bialkowski with an injury time free kick awarded just outside the area. That was it, no goals again, and just six points and four goals from seven games.
