Oh sh-t!

Conceded just 2 goals in the last 6!? I don't think games get any tougher than this. Defensively poor in recent games and our tendency to concede soft and avoidable goals means it could be a long evening for us. Is there any chance of some cup magic for us!? Missing an attacking outlet again which we've struggled to cope with, failing to score in our last 2 without McBurnie. At least I hope we put in a performance, last year we didn't look interested against Spurs in the quarter final.

1 change from West Brom, Naughton out injured so Fulton starts, Grimes has to fill in at left back.

Well that’s what you love about the FA Cup, it certainly is a leveller.
We had Man City on the ropes and frightened the life out of their superstars.
If only we’d had VAR at that match we would have been going to Wembley.
for a semi final.
As so often happened in the PL the ref Mariner favoured the big team and so it was again as he decided to even things up with the penalty that wasn’t. If he can’t tell when a player is diving by now he needs to give up. To rub salt in the wound the officials missed the offside goal as well.
Tremendous display by our youngsters made me very proud of the team yesterday.
Now if only we can build on that, keep the team together in the summer and add some experienced players we could do well next season.
But no, unfortunately we have owners who would sell their granny for a few dollars, so next seasons hypothetical success is only a dream.

There's been so much said after the game about the controversy and rightly so but it's a shame that it's taken over from the fact that it was a proper cup tie and our performance was excellent. We took a almost full strength Manchester City side all the way and in the end they needed a penalty that wasn't and an offside goal to win it. So much potential there under Potter but the squad needs improving but like you've said, can only see it being weakened yet again.

Will the now confirmed appointment of Trevor Birch as Chairman bring some much needed stability and experience to the club, both financially and on the playing front?
Selling our best players for giveaway prices last summer to get them off the wagebill has contributed to the financial black hole that Birch has been brought in to sort out.
We hope there is a tying down of players with new contracts such as James, VdH and Fer, and a selling spree of the right players and not the wrong ones, plus the recruitment of a few experienced players needed for a promotion push next season.
