Swans v Huddersfield

With nine changes made for Wed night’s Cup defeat, this weekend’s probable team should return to action fresh and ready to go. Still seeking a first home league win of the season the current Swans team are not exactly showing any sort of form under Russell Martin, as they try to get to grips with his inflexible style of play. We sit in 21st place in the table, our lowest position in the league since 2008, when we were promoted as Champions from League One, and only out of the relegation three spots on goal difference. We have to start winning soon, the table doesn’t lie and the 7 points gained so far from a possible 24 is relegation form.
Often when a club appoints a new manager the players respond and you have a run of winning matches, but it’s been consistently flat for us.
It doesn’t get any easier, Huddersfield have one defeat on the road this season, a narrow 2-1 loss by an own goal to Stoke, and sit just outside the play-off spots on goal difference.

The teams -
Swans:
Ben Hamer, Ryan Manning, Ben Cabango, Kyle Naughton, Ethan Laird, Flynn Downes, Matt Grimes (c), Jake Bidwell, Olivier Ntcham (Fulton 76’), Jamie Paterson (Smith 70’), Joel Piroe (Cullen 69’)
Subs: Steven Benda, Jay Fulton, Korey Smith, Brandon Cooper, Liam Cullen, Joel Latibeaudiere, Liam Walsh

Huddersfield:
Lee Nicholls, Harry Toffolo, Matty Pearson, Jonathan Hogg (c) (Odubeko 84’), Lewis O'Brien, Sorba Thomas, Ollie Turton (Koroma 61’), Fraizer Campbell (Holmes 64’), Danel Sinani, Levi Colwill, Tom Lees.
Substitutes: Giosue Bellagambi, Alex Vallejo, Mipu Odubeko, Josh Koroma, Scott High, Duane Holmes, Naby Sarr.

At last a goal and a win! We should have scored even more than the one goal first half, a chance wasted by Paterson one on one with the goalie but shooting wide when well placed, Piroe brought out a good save from the goalkeeper and again needed too much time to bring the ball onto his left foot and shot tamely at the goalkeeper.
The second half was more even but we still limited a very good Huddersfield team to zero shots on target. Sub Cullen managed to score at the end but his goal was ruled out for offside.
