Swans v Forest

Back to the action today after another one of those boring two week International breaks.
The delicate flower that is Montero is injured once again, this time in training. He’s a brilliant player when on song but sad to see he’ll be out for 4/6 weeks, just when he’s in top form too. I thought Potter had cracked it by rationing his game time but this latest setback is a big blow.
Fer is still out for the next few matches but Fulton is fit again for what is a tough week. We must utilise the forgotten three of Narsingh, Dyer, and Routledge, our top earners and most experienced players, who need to knuckle down and justify they are still good enough to play for us.
After Forest we go to Stoke next Tuesday and Boro next Sat so a huge week that will tell us a lot about our threadbare squad and our chances this season. Are we genuine contenders for promotion or have we flattered to deceive? Can we continue our good start?
Good luck to the lads today.

The polite word is aggressive but I call it dirty. By hook or by crook we weren’t getting past Forest and it was like a battlefield down there today, as they scythed down our players.
Encouraged by a dozy, incompetent ref, the Forest players bullied and fouled at will, pressed with a high block and achieved their target. Two of our players off injured at half time showed how inept the ref was in protecting our players.
Janko should have been sent off for his flying boots up tackle on Celina but the ref just turned his back and simply ignored the foul and let play continue, with Celina prostrate on the ground in agony.
Fulton’s head clash showed how wound up the Forest players were, even then the ref was reluctant to stop play.
It sounds like concussion as a bandaged up Jay was forced off feeling sick at half time, together with Celina, whose ankle injury is yet to be assessed.
So what do we know -
We now know that we are a target, as a recently relegated PL side.
Playing us is our oppositions cup final and we have to be beaten at all costs, by fair or foul means.
The refs are incompetent at this level.
Our relatively small side can be bullied out of games with a high press and aggressive play.
That we are two more players down after yesterday’s game, with two very tough away games coming up this Tue and Sat and our midfield decimated.
Fer, Carroll, Montero, Celina, Fulton, Bony out injured, Courtney suspended.
The three wingers, Narsingh, Dyer and Routledge could be utilised but are far from being match fit.
Welcome to the Championship!
