Swans v Blackburn

Tony Mowbray’s free scoring Blackburn are the visitors to the Liberty on Saturday.
They are very unpredictable and do concede as well as score plenty of goals, as can be seen by their results so far. They put four goals past Derby and Coventry on their travels and five past Wycombe at home, all without reply.
Their latest result was a 2-4 home defeat on Tuesday night against runaway league leaders Reading. The only game they’ve failed to score in was Cardiff at the beginning of the month. Top scorer is striker Adam Armstrong with 9 goals and 70% shot accuracy.
On the injury front, Belgian goalkeeper Kaminski missed Tuesday’s defeat with a groin injury, Rothwell, Johnson and Bell are also doubtful for Saturday.

Swansea meanwhile are buzzing after beating Stoke 2-0 on Tuesday night, with three changes to the team and squad rotation working so successfully.
There are no new injury doubts as far as we know.

Ryan Bennet is not injured, he was withdrawn on Tuesday night with fatigue.
Byers comeback from injury has been delayed by a few weeks after a slight setback.

Joel Latibeaudiere is taking full part in training after arriving from Man City with a minor injury.

Last time we met Blackburn was 29 Feb this year at Ewood Park.
We conceded a 95’ injury time goal from a Bradley Johnson deflected shot for a 2-2 draw. Ex-Swan Danny Graham (now at Sunderland) had come on as sub and missed a penalty awarded for a Rodon foul in the box on Brereton.

Swans goals were a Brewster half-volley and an Ayew penalty for a foul on Garrick.
The team that day: Woodman, Naughton, Cabango, Rodon, Bidwell, Fulton, Grimes, Garrick (Roberts 70’), Gallagher (Wilmot 90’), Ayew, Brewster.
The corresponding Swans home fixture was 11 Dec 2019, result 1-1.
Danny Graham scored after 4’ and Ayew equalised on 10’.

Carroll got sent off on 57’ for two yellow cards and Dack followed him for the same on 67’ to even things up. The team (4-3-3) was Woodman, Bidwell, Hoorn, Cabango, Roberts, Carroll, Grimes, Byers, Celina, Surridge, Ayew.

Today’s line-up:

Swansea City: Freddie Woodman; Kyle Naughton, Ben Cabango, Marc Guehi; Connor Roberts, Korey Smith, Jay Fulton, Jake Bidwell; Yan Dhanda; Andre Ayew (captain), Jamal Lowe.
Substitutes: Steven Benda, Ryan Bennett, Ryan Manning, Kasey Palmer, Matt Grimes, Wayne Routledge, Viktor Gyokeres.

Swans team news: Ben Cabango, Jake Bidwell, and Korey Smith play, with Ryan Bennet, Ryan Manning and Matt Grimes dropping to the bench.

Blackburn team news: Recently signed from Leeds, full-back Barry Douglas drops out to self isolate, and is replaced by Ryan Nyambe in the starting line up with Harry Chapman coming into the squad, as the only changes from the Reading home defeat on Tuesday.

Steve Cooper:
"It was a tough game and truth be told in the first half it took us a while to get settled, but in the second half I thought we were better and more of the game was in Blackburn's half.
Not every game can be one for the purist and we accept that, even though it is what we aim for.
Blackburn have scored more goals than anyone and you can see why, so we showed good attributes to win the game of football.
We are very pleased to get the three points and a clean sheet. The second goal was excellent, that's the team we want to be."

Tony Mowbray:
"I'm disappointed, especially with the goals we gave away. They were unlike us. It must be two years since we gave away a goal from a direct header at a corner.
It was a frustrating day because we had some opportunities, but one of those has to go in. We were up against a team with a very good spirit and you could feel that spirit.
It was a tight match, but credit to Swansea for digging in and getting the result. They are second in the league now and they are a good side.

In Andre Ayew you can see they have a class striker, one of the best in this division."
