Swans defenders compared

So is Rodon any better than CCV?
We have to stop conceding from set pieces which has ruined our promotion push this season. At 6’4” Rodon should certainly win the aerial battles, but it doesn’t help when you have a goalkeeper that can’t/won’t dominate his area on set pieces, and remains static on his line.

Both Mulder and Nordfelt are weak in the air for big men.
It’s down to the goalkeeper coach to sort it out and he hasn’t.
If the centre backs had more confidence in the goalkeeper we wouldn’t have conceded so many goals. There’s panic at every high ball.

When you look at the number of goals we’ve conceded it’s pretty high.
Yet Norwich have conceded the same number, 48, and they are top of the table with 24 wins compared to our 13 wins.
Look at the goals scored though and there’s the difference.
Norwich have scored 78 goals, we’ve scored 46 goals.

Rodon played in the home game against West Brom where we conceded two goals from set pieces.
CCV played in the away game at West Brom where we conceded three goals from set pieces.
Nordfelt played in the home game.
Mulder played in the the away game.
Both goalkeepers weak on crosses.

It would be interesting to see stats on aerials for both players in defensive third only and particularly inside the penalty box. I'll have a look tonight.
