Summer Transfer Window

What we know so far -
The Championship transfer window opened on Monday 27 July 2020. The transfer window closes Mon 5 Oct 2020 for international transfers and Fri 16 Oct 2020 for domestic transfers.
The 2020-21 season starts on Sat 12 Sept, in just under 6 weeks time, playing to empty stadiums unless anything changes.
Pre-season training starts in 3 weeks, a quick turnaround, with friendly matches already arranged.

Who will be left of the squad is anybody’s guess, with 12 players either returned to parent clubs, out of contract or released.
Freddie Woodman returned to Newcastle, hip injury, unknown if he’ll return.
Steven Benda was ineligible to play in the play-offs, but is under contract until June 2022

Erwin Mulder, out of contract, has already departed to Heerenveen.
Wayne Routledge, Nathan Dyer, Mike van der Hoorn, Kyle Naughton are also out of contract on 4 August, the date of the Championship play-off final.
Rodon still injured, under contract until 2022, possibly departing.

Loanee Wilmot was injured and has returned to Watford, unlikely to return with Watford relegated.
Montero and Baker-Richardson are gone.

Ayew contracted until 2021, but probably going as we can’t afford to keep him.
Roberts and Celina contracted until June 2022, but possible departures.

Loanees Gallagher, Brewster and Kalulu will return to their parent clubs.
Asoro 2022, Peterson 2022, MacKay 2021, and John 2021, were deemed not good enough this season and were sent out on loan, all could leave.

In a worse case scenario we could be left with only the following:
Benda, Guehi (loan), Cabango, Bidwell, Fulton, Grimes, Byers, Cullen, and Garrick, with free transfers, loans and U-23’s to make up the squad.

The Swans have made an undisclosed offer for League One Southend’s 18 year old striker Charlie Kelman (6 goals in 28 matches for Southend).
Their Chairman Ron Martin’s response was “Charlie is not for sale, definitely not.”
Reports say that if he was signed he would go on loan to MLS team DC United, with whom we have links through our owners.

Although born in Basildon, England, Kelman already has links to the US, and is eligible to represent both countries. He spent much of his youth in Texas, including time at FC Dallas, before moving back to England. He has previously been called up to the US U-18’s side and scored in a friendly against Sporting Kansas City.

Ex-Middlesborough player and now a free agent, 6’3” central-defender, 29 year old Spaniard Daniel Ayala, is rumoured to be in talks with Swansea, big snag are the wages, the reason why he didn’t renew his contract at Boro.

Another Middlesborough player out of contract, 32 year old left-back George Friend has not renewed so far, Swans, Forest, and Brum apparently interested.

Korey played against us just over a month ago for Bristol City.
Wearing the number 7 shirt he was subbed after 67’.
But before that, after Connor Roberts had scored the opening goal first half, early second half he cut in from the left and curled a shot beyond the far post.

“Swansea set to complete two signings - Freddie Woodman on a second season-long loan and ex-Bristol City captain Korey Smith on free transfer”

BBC Sport : “Swansea are also close to another signing as they bid to boost their squad for next season, with Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman set for a return in a season-long loan. Woodman is poised to play a for second season at the Liberty Stadium after making 43 appearances for Swansea last term.”

Twenty eight days to the start of the season on 12/9. The fixture list comes out next Friday 21/8.
Our players out on loan last season are already back in training, those involved in the play-offs have an extra week’s break.
Our first pre-season friendly is 1/9, two weeks next Tuesday.
The signing of defensive midfielder Korey Smith is a good addition to the squad, he has plenty of Championship experience. The return of goalkeeper Woodman is a boost. We are going to need replacements for the loan players who’ve returned to their parent clubs and for any departures so it’s going to be a busy few weeks.

Wigan’s 27 year old winger Jamal Lowe is the latest name being linked with us, apparently we’ve made a bid. He still has two years left on his contract but due to Wigan’s relegation may favour a move, with several clubs interested. He scored 6 goals last season.

Swans are unlikely to recruit Jamal Lowe on a cut-price deal.
Wigan still owe his former club Portsmouth around £750,000 in unpaid transfer fees.
Wigan are presently relying on player sales to reduce creditors debt of £6.5m and to pay players' wages.
Previous offers for Lowe of around the £500,000 mark have already been turned down, as it would require Latics to immediately pay the remaining balance of £250,000.
For Wigan to exit administration they first need to clear their debt in full. Sad days for Wigan fans and we Jacks know how they must be feeling.
In a fire sale reminiscent of the Swans darkest days when we got relegated, here are their departures so far:
Manager Paul Cook has resigned
Lewis Macleod to Plymouth.
Antonee Robinson to Fulham
Keiffer Moore to Cardiff
Joe Gelhardt to Leeds
Alfie Devine to Spurs
Jensen Weir to Brighton
Daniel Gyollai to Peterborough
Leon Balogun to Rangers

Chey Dunkley to Sheffield Wed
