Summer Transfer Window Thread

Second highest net spend in the league, only behind Wrexham. We must have massive commercial deals lined up because the maths isn't adding up at the moment. Silly amount of backing, two good players per every position, no excuses this season.

If it was submitted before the deadline, hopefully it will end up going through. Fingers crossed it’s just a delayed response for whatever reason, could really do with that depth on the right hand side.

How can there be uncertainty if a deal sheet wasn't needed? Surely that can only mean that someone at Swans/Burnley has filled out a form incorrectly???

Highest spend relative to the competition since the 2006 summer window I’d say although I could be wrong. Hope it all works out for us

I hate uncertainty over any transfer, while it wouldn’t be the end of the world if we didn’t get Benson (testament to the excellent work done already) it would give us a massive boost in quality off the bench and at the start of certain games, the guy scored every time he cut in on his left last time he was in the Championship. Hoping it isn’t a clerical error by us or Burnley and it just needs to be rubber stamped by authorities 🤞🤞

We've shifted big wages over the last 6-12 months, which isn't accounted for here.
Wages will help, but we were already reporting eight-figure operating losses per year recently, and that was including some sales. To have such a large net spent, there's got to be money coming in from somewhere soon or we'd be breaking PSR surely?

I don't believe we've declared our most recent P&L, it's always a year in lieu. I take your point, but people perhaps miss that we're often reviewing finances a year out of date (at minimum), don't consider that we were paying Grimes and Darling hefty wages, have elsewhere reduced operating costs significantly, seemingly have grown our commercial, and have plans to continue that in the near future.

Sorry, being a nerd here.

Don’t get the hold up with this Benson deal? If we didn’t use that deal sheet then the club obviously thought it was all done by 7pm. Either you’ve sent it in on time or you haven’t?

We also cleared the wages of Kukharevych, Yates, Pedersen, Allen and Naughton this summer, all of whom were likely on big contracts (mostly thanks to Mr Watson).

On top of that, we brought in the Piroe money from Leeds going up this summer, plus sell-on fees from Whittaker, Joseph (if we had one), Downes and Rodon last summer.

Most players we’ve signed this summer for a fee has been given a four or five year deal (sometimes with a +1 option) which means the transfer fees can be spread across the length of the contract. For example, Idah’s £6m fee works out at £1.2m a year on the books, not £6m all at once.

Because it’s calculated on a rolling three-year basis, I’d imagine we’re fine for now. That said, we’ll probably need a big sale or two in the next 18 months.
