Decent. Just about kept up with our rivals.

In a normal / average transfer window I would have said we had an outstanding summer, however, this was no normal summer transfer window. The Rags for instance, or Bournemouth capturing Jack Wilshire, on loan for the season. Who would have seen that one coming?

The one difference is we have Pep, he's beginning to turn good players into exceptional ones and so you could say, within weeks we have a complete new starting 11.

I was very surprised we did not sign a striker and questions arise on certain players that have since gone out on loan, plus players we have had for a few years still being loaned out.

Do we make money from loaning out players?

It depends Buzz, for example we're reportedly getting £2million from Stoke for Bony but on the other hand we're subsidising Hart's wage to the tune of £60k reportedly.

Some of our loanees that we have bought may never play for City, there must be something behind it, buying players to immediately send them out.

Why no striker, not even one on loan

Again Buzz it depends on the individual case, for example Moreno, I believe part of the reason for his loan to Spain is to help in acquiring a work permit.

Then if you take Roberts as an example, I believe he's gone to Celtic to get used to the rigours of senior football in an effort to prepare him to step into City's senior squad.

As for a striker, Gabriel Jesus is currently the top scorer in the Brazilian league and Sane apparently has the potential to play through the middle too and besides Guardiola has shown with Barca that he isn't striker reliant when he didn't use a centre forward at all but there again he could do that because he had Messi in the 'false 9' role.

I expect Sane to be our best buy when the hammy heals. Just have a hunch about this. As for all the loans it's the price we pay to hoover up so many players hoping a few are diamonds like Merlin.

Good points, BD, but we won't get Jesus until January and that's a long way off. I don't understand why we've let Bony go out on loan. We should have kept him til January and then moved him on.
By the way, thanks for running the ins and outs thread. Very useful to have it all in one place.

On the face of it I would say its been solid activity. But we have yet to see Ilkay, Sane, Bravo and Jesus. Might be an idea to repeat this poll in 2 months time?

We haven't seen 6 of the 9 in a City shirt yet, so it's a bit early to know.
There are some great quality players in there, so if they work out, this could turn out to be (one of) the best window(s) we've had since Sheikhy arrived

A pretty decent assessment of the first transfer window under our new coach.

Leonardo Bonucci would have been a bonus in otherwise strong City window
