Summer Transfer Rumours

Name someone better than Mike Danson to own us. Wiganner Billionaire proper business acumen.
Someone to show some ambition and spend a bit of money on the playing side, no one is asking Danson to throw millions at the manager /squad just a decent, sensible investment to at least give us a fighting chance next season.

We seem to be worse off now than before the embargo was lifted.

Think it’s run its course about Danson. Some of own fans didn’t even like Dave Whelan. Some thought the Chinese were ok And believe or not a good few on here. Thought the last lot were ok. Even after numerous warnings. From some fans

Did I not say previously
Without latics it would be harder to run the stadium and its rugby alone
With future sales players that is
It makes it easier to finance both as well has latics all be it on a low budget approach to the football club while being able to keep the rugby in poke position due to lower cost of running it
You buy a rugby player for the equivalent of a bag of crisp pisst take that
Whereas sell a football player for let's say 5m is a big difference
Rather than put his hand in his pocket
Ok I know he paid 17m out to save us but how much is the stadium worth face value
And how many players could he sell to make his 17m back in the long term
Plus have the stadium and training ground that latics own
How much could he rake in by selling off the training ground for building purposes if he wanted to
And we used the Warriors training ground
Just a though but what do I know
Since the Warriors training base is Robin Park that is nowhere near the standard of facility we would require. If anyone thinks that Danson would sell off Christopher Park to use Robin Park that is just ludicrous. Stranger things have happened I know, but that really would be shooting himself in the foot...

Bicky, fair do's mate. I understand your explanation but would point out that your point regarding stadium costs being too high for one club really don't stand up.

If the stadium was owned by the rugby alone then the owner would have a full out of season to run the kind of events that we saw at Robin park recently, only on a much bigger scale bringing in extra revenue. They would also qualify for lower rates, something which we have suffered with since PL days, as their business is rated much lower. Policing costs would also be significantly less and and the same with stewarding and day to day running costs would be significantly reduced

It is unreasonable to state that the stadium could not be run for one individual club, hence when people say that MD could have bought the stadium for a song if we had gone bust it makes more sense if all he wanted was the stadium. The money poured into the club by MD to prop us up over the last season and a half would have run the stadium for the next ten years.

The problem is that the pure hatred, no disrespect meant, shown against the Rugby is clouding your vision and perhaps stopping you from seeing the benefits of joint ownership in relation to our own club. In my opinion, and it is only an opinion, both clubs can benefit from this as a joint venture and flourish together. I realise that the bridges between both sets of supporters have been well and truly burnt with the actions of past chairmen, but they can be rebuilt if only people would give the new generation a chance.
Fair response
But can't see this unity happening in my time

I've never once said I don't like Danson, my gripe is the lack of funds towards the squad and the clear signs of lack of ambition.

As a Latics and Saints fan I certainly don't want any unity with that shower!

Yes, so name that person.

You just don't get it do you. The club was on the brink of going out of business and Danson saved it. He didn't buy the club to throw money at it and risk it's future again. He made it quite clear he wanted to run it on a sustainable basis so I don't know why you even bother supporting the club now as it clearly won't meet your expectations. I don't know if you are constantly trying to wind people up but your posts are genuinely painful to read.

Who would you sign? Seeing as this is a summer transfer rumours thread, give us your insight. I'm genuinely interested.

Is that your insider knowledge or are you just spouting more crap
Unfair. If we cannot post personal opinions and perspectives here there would literally be zero posts. Lots of "positive" posters on here guilty of rage baiting - it s an unconstructive bad habit.

There used to be a covenant on Christopher Park.
So not a saleable asset

Hull must have scouted Hughes properly to offer 5m+ already, so they will know how good he is and almost certainly come back with another offer - just a matter of time.

If it takes 7m rising to 9m it is massive money but Hughes will easily be worth it for them. The lad is Premier League class.
