Summer Transfer Rumour Thread

Has this geezer Bishop got lost on his way to the club
Apparently he has attracted interest from a number of other clubs including Cambridge, Portsmouth and Wycombe; and has been mooted as an MK Dons signing for several weeks now. He is probably just taking time to make his decision, he has been at Ipswich since he was knee-high, so a big life choice for him.

If it’s in the Echo it must be true. Probably just getting the paperwork sorted and signed then unleashing him on the press, etc.

Hope for his sake he turns MK down. He only just became championship quality yesterday. He'd be back to being an unimpressive league 1 signing in a flash.

It might be a case of player(s) signing but because they're either moving from Club to Club or into the Club, they might have to isolate for 10 days before joining up?

Only if the club insists I guess but otherwise, nah. There are no movement restrictions in England, unless you get dragged into the pingdemic - then you have to isolate.

Will today finally be the day we get at least one more through the door?
Been logging in constantly over the past 2-3 weeks expectantly with very little to get our teeth into.

Two weeks to go and yet so many unanswered questions and pieces of the puzzle missing.

Just to reiterate, the transfer market is static at present at all levels and Lincoln are no different to the majority. There are multiple reasons:

a) transfer chains often start in the Premier League, which isn't moving yet;

b) the Euros have naturally held things up at the highest levels as the stars recover and negotiate new deals and/or transfers elsewhere;

c) Brexit has changed employment rules, thereby restricting the ability of clubs below the Premier League to sign players from overseas - such transfers usually assist the flow of players within the EFL, but that dynamic is missing this year;

d) a number of transfer embargoes (eight within the EFL alone) will also impact on movement;

e) financial uncertainty - some clubs have reported serious Covid losses and are reducing their squads in terms of numbers and/or wages; in League One, even Portsmouth and Sunderland have both made budgetary cuts;

f) uncertainty over the return of crowds - will it be at full capacity, restricted, or even none at all;

g) because of the delay at the top level, lower division clubs are also waiting on decisions from bigger clubs on which players they can take on loan;

h) rumoured contract offers from a small number of clubs in League One mean that players and their agents are suddenly holding out for more money;

i) clubs are therefore hanging onto their existing players until they know they can allow them to leave.

Transfer deadline day (31 August) promises to be chaotic; I am therefore slightly surprised that Lincoln have a match arranged for that evening.

Assume that means we will have to wait until at least teatime for a signing to be announced then.

Perhaps even longer.

It wouldn’t be so bad if we already had a reasonable number in the squad with a keeper and defenders not having played before or being injured.

If we started the season today, what sort of side would we be able to actually put out? Think it would be okay up top and in midfield, but the defence and gk positions less so.
