Summer 2025 Transfers

JHT has apparently said there were mixed messages not top 6 goal but youth development over results - had top 6 been known he would have made different decisions - Im sure it was top 6 from the outset but using youth more - why would you ever not put results first - match achievement keeps the fans happy to pay, not the other way - DGs absolutely clear on this.

Youth development...he didn't really do that either. I guess mahovo, but do they mean development of our own academy or signing youngsters from another academy and playing them? Like mahovo.

There are different ways of taking an average depending on the distribution of the data.
The common method of summing the values and dividing by the number of data points requires a reasonably even distribution of values. If outliers, values very different from the rest of the distribution, are included, that has the effect of skewing the result and providing an inaccurate average.
An alternative approach might be to take the median. That finds the middle value of a range of data. Another method is to use the mode, which is the most popular set of values. That ignores outliers and is useful for an uneven set.
Of course, in order to produce anything meaningful the criteria needs to be clear. If someone is using goals scored as the criteria, that would produce largely meaningless results unless the group only consists of attackers. When we make an informal assessment, we are often vague about the criteria using our impressions rather than a measurable quantity.
Football is rife with inaccuracies which of course makes outcomes unpredictable. That is a major contributor to the excitement we fans experience.

Napoli and Porto are reported to have made a couple of bids for Sainz, but they have been too low for the club to accept.

What do you think the club is holding out for? £15m maybe?
That is about right.
The club must realise Gunn has walked for free and after Sainz we only have Sarge with a potentially large fee value.
Estimating that we will not buy a really good player and with Crapper's record a future player is likely to fail rather than be a future superstar there will be no further big income on sales and as such Sainz fee has to be max possible.

Porto made a bid if 12.7 million for Sainz just as the window was closing in the hopes of getting him in their club world cup squad, but Norwich rejected it as too low. They are though to be thinking of coming back with an improved offer in the summer. Reports that £15 million is our asking price.

Napoli still interested

We have been linked with Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips. He is right-footed and 28. Spent last season on loan at Derby.

£2/3 million has been mentioned as the asking price.

Harry Darling and now Nat Phillips...It sounds like we are looking at a new right-sided central defender who has championship experience and isn't seen as a youngster. Do we think this means they will be pushing Duffy out the door?

We are interested in Wigan youngster K'marni Miller.

He is a left back.

He is 19...will be 20 this coming season so not a player for u18s and short term in the U21s.

Another mahovo.
