Sum up the season

We were crap, but Cooper at least deserved a few more games. Nuno has to do much better next season if he stays. Despite some very positive performances with some good results, it was mostly diappointing and we are still incredibly naive. I'd stick with Nuno for sure, but I hope EM doesn't get too trigger happy again.

A word for Mads Sels

We stopped talking about the goalkeeper in January.

Simple as that.

Went from one of our top topics of conversation to something we just never talked about.

He wasn't flawless and there was the odd one he did badly on, but that happens to any keeper.

Totally steady pair of hands, inspired confidence in the defence and the supporters, saved us a few times but more than anything, we just didn't notice him because he did his job well.

Anyone else notice that we pretty much stopped conceding set pieces as soon as Boly came back into the side?
If Turner had not conceded that goal versus Arsenal at his near post:
(1) Forest would have taken a point off Arsenal (or even beaten them), but
(2) Forest, and Turner, would have conceded many more.
(3) Matz Sels would not have got into not just the Belgian squad, but the Belgian team.

Sels is good, calm and composed, distribution seems pretty good too.

I had noticed Forest no longer conceding a lot from set pieces since Boly's return. If he stays fit for 30 games next season I think our defensive record will improve further.

Didn't there used to be a position called sweeper? Murillo could do that job, working with two big CBs. Swooping to nick the ball back if they're caught on the turn, closing down players in the box, blocking shots, but also creating attacks with those superb passes.

And with more licence to go on a run himself. I hope we get at least one more season of Murillo.

Niakhate looks fine lately, Aina is class, Williams has played really well. We've still conceded too many goals, but the defence looks good on paper. (Cue Brian Clough quote).

i do think wed have finiished a little highher under coops but for the same reasons of needing time with a new squad Nuno did as well as could have been expected, bit of a circus season overall
