Substitute prep

An interesting article. The points made about how poorly prepared Rashford and Sancho were in the Euro Final could as easily apply to the vast majority of substitute warm ups in football which consist mostly of a stroll down the touch line, hanging about around the penalty area and gently stretching………never been my idea of the ideal way for athletes to get ready to enter what is often a high intensity period of a match. At least in rugby union they often have their replacements sat on exercise bikes pitchside to warm their muscles up properly. Most footballer warm ups are pathetic.

'One of these guys could be your match-winner' - is a substitution coach the future in football? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59018115
