Stupid sports thread

Horse racing!

Definitely not a sport. Only there as an excuse to bet.

When 'sports betting' wasn't allowed, betting on horse racing was. Says it all.

Volleyball,unless it`s topless.
Women`s cricket,unless it`s nude.
Women`s rugby,unless it`s topless.
Women`s anything unless it`s topless actually.

Cricket men's or women's (I put the right face on for my youngest as he loves it)
Netball
Boat racing

Think that's about it

None, one mans rubbish is another mans treasure.

I've already told people off for spoiling threads they're not interested in! You should know better :17: :13: :17:

The only sport I've never really got is Tennis. I can watch pretty much anything else, but ten minutes of Wimbledon, and I'm ready to gouge my own eyes out.

On Golf, and other sports, does the lack of interest come from never having tried them? Golf, particularly, is far more compelling when you realise how difficult it is, and how good these guys are.

But you could say the same about tennis. The players are remarkably fit and extremely skilful. They are both mind-numbingly boring.

Rounders
hockey
netball
rock climbing
horse racing (cruel)

if your classing snooker and darts as passtimes then surely golf would come under the same bracket?

Trekker spent a whole afternoon showing me his trophy cabinet for tiddlywinks then says snooker and darts aren't sports.

Puzzling!!

Maybe we can settle on games!??

I can't put a reason on it. I just don't enjoy watching Tennis, and I've tried.

I play Golf 4 or 5 times a week, and am constantly trying to get better at it, so to watch these players do the things they do just fascinates me. If I didn't understand the intricacies of what they are doing, I agree, it would probably be boring.

And if anyone thinks it is a pastime, then you certainly haven't played.

Heath did you like the tennis around the, pre 1970's time, 70's and on?.

Back then (I am talking more pre 90's and perhaps part of 90's) the racquets were top quality ''normal'' racquets which gave far more fun with the rallies and unexpected.

I get you re today, it is so boring by compare. I don't get into it like I used to and find it tedious. I pick and choose what I watch of it.

Strangely enough, some find, I have to grin and bear the cricket, cos of my youngest and yet I like the golf. Granted I used to play back in the 90's, however I still like to watch it. I find it restful as well as interesting as I know there is alot of skill in it.

Yet the same will be true for the cricket and I can't stand it. Quirks I suppose.

I have only played a proper tennis game about three times in my life. It was OK, but I didn't get the urge to go back.

As I said in my first post, it may have something to do with what we find interesting when watching. The more n depth knowledge leading to a deeper involvement in what we are seeing.

Mind you, I've only played American Football twice, and I do like watching that.
