A name that was mentioned in passing earlier in the Summer has popped up again. We are looking to strengthen the midfield, and O'Keefe would be a significant addition. 26 years old with Premier League experience and is comfortably a Championship player who would be dropping a level to play for us.

Talks are of a season long loan deal, fingers crossed it happens but something tells me it will only happen if we can get rid of Roberts or Smith first.

Stuart O'Keefe, a former Premier League footballer at Crystal Palace, who spent part of last season on loan at MK Dons in League One, could join Pompey from Cardiff?

Said much of what I wanted to in the article so will not repeat myself... BUT would be a decent addition but not keen on another loan arrival in favour of using the players we actually own.

Tonight Pompey head to Cardiff, a repeat of the 2008 FA Cup final, for a League Cup meeting which could give the Blues a glimpse of former Crystal Palace midfielder Stuart O'Keefe.

Not sure on Baker in central midfield, hope May takes his chance tonight but if he's not ready, and nor is Close, thinking more and more O'Keefe could be a sound option.

It appears that Roberts has settled his contract with the club and is moving on, unfortunately, but that should leave a vacancy.

Other than the fact Roberts leaving frees up some wages I don't think his exit makes too much difference in Jacket's bid to find another midfielder - if this is O'Keefe or Gleeson I wouldn't mind.

I'm assuming any potential Pompey loan deal for Cardiff's former Crystal Palace midfielder Stuart O'Keefe will depend on player exits.

So far today I've heard us linked with the following:

Ollie Watkins: I'd love him on board but I don't think we need another striker.

Stuart O'Keefe: Don't know too much about him but he looks like he could be a useful addition. Should be decent at this level having played most career at Championship level, and is just reaching his prime years.

Alex Bruce: Plenty of Premier League experience with Hull under the tutelage of Daddy Steve, must admit he's dropped off the radar recently and has been released by Bury after just 2 games. A bit of a risk but could pay off, would allow Thompson to play out wide.

Ollie Hawkins (not Watkins) is on board. Does that mean Smith/Main are going to be shipped out, or maybe Kabamba will be loaned out?

Why have Bury released Bruce after only two games? If fully fit and no issues, and affordable, could be a great experienced player to sign.

However, I'd think his arrival would mean someone else is leaving... would worry about this being Burgess or Whatmough, both apparently attracting interest?

Is this the fella at Dagenham? Not too bothered about bringing him in tbh and would sooner stick with Main and Kabamba even if Smith - who could join Colchester? - left.

Stuart O'Keefe has been secured on loan. The former Southend and Crystal Palace midfielder should make his Pompey debut against Rotherham on Sunday.

I think, well, certainly hope, this signing could be a really good one and give us that elements we've definitely been missing in midfield.

Stuart O'Keefe, troubled by injury, a long-term one at that, should soon make his comeback as he bids to push forward his claims for next season - be that with Pompey or Cardiff.

On-loan Cardiff midfielder Stuart O'Keefe isn't a player we've seen as much as we would have wanted, but the majority still feel he's one Kenny Jackett should look to keep at Pompey.
