'City's quality shone through'

Stoke 0-2 Man City

Robbie Savage

Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

It could’ve been four or five for Manchester City.

No shots on target from Stoke will be a disappointment, only that miscued clearance from Kyle Walker causing City trouble.

But they didn’t give up, worked hard and put a shift in for the manager, but their quality shone through from City.

Vincent Kompany on Sky Sports:

"Every win brings you closer to your goal but we want to keep this standard until the end of the season and into the next season too.

"It's a massive boost for us to play the game like we do. Everybody in the blue side of Manchester knows it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to win the title against Manchester United but steady, it won't be handed to us."

Manchester City midfielder David Silva on how his form is so good despite the premature birth of his son:

"I don't know! When I play football I forget about everything else, it is good for me to play.

"My private life is very hard for me but my son is fighting and getting better."

2nd gear win overseen by superb game management means the platform is brilliantly built for the big run in. Fernandinho my overall MOTM. The skipper deftly referenced winning the title against the rags. We have our foot firmly on their throats and this win will have ground them down again. 18 days off now dominated by rest and light training courtesy the Wigan defeat starts at Ringway tomorrow. Its time to get VERY excited. Don't forget CL draw Friday and where we will be playing between Everton and the derby.

Pep Guardiola to Sky Sports:

"We are very close now, we have 81 points which is a lot! We had a solid performance, we controlled the game and conceded no chances.

"Now we have three weeks off, we go to Abu Dhabi and will come back strong. It is a tough winter for everybody so we are off straight away and we look forward to the weather.

"Today we were solid. David Silva controls the tempo. He has the skills no doubt about that but in the bad moments he is there to control the game and he is an aggressive competitior.

"To be champions is tough, it's complicated. Our club does not have a history of a lot of titles. As soon as possible will be better but now we can be relaxed, the players go away with their international teams. It doesn't matter where we win it.

"I understand that it is important to our fans to win it against United but the target is the next game at Everton. After that, if we play like today sooner or later we will be champions."

Stoke captain Jack Butland:

"They are going to win the league and they are one of the best teams we have seen in the Premier League. We kept them out more than we let them through.

"It's not easy for us down there. We know that our goal is and what we need to do. We have to approach every game with the same intensity and I believe we will be alright."

Love that first goal, the pass from Jesus to put Sterling away was brilliant and I'm a sucker for a first time cross, served up on a Sterling Silva platter, outstanding.

Chelsea officially decrowned. :065:

I wonder if we'll be reading a piece in a newspaper about the worst title defence - ever.
James Lawton, wasn't it?

I am starting to beleive.

A professional job done last evening - the game management at 0-2 was top drawer. Jon Moss’s leniency towards manhandling notwithstanding we escaped without any injuries. Fingers crossed they all return from the international break the sameness way.

It is all building towards the perfect storm on 7th April. Mrs Skoorb had better make sure she has plans for the day as I will be pretty much uncommunicative that day with the tension......especially as kick off isn’t until 5.30pm. I can imagine that it is every rag’s worst nightmare - it would be mine if the situation was reversed.

It will certainly be Maureen’s and I am anticipating him bringing a full fleet of buses. He will not want to witness his bitterest rival securing the title against his team and will employ every technique in his armoury to try and prevent it. This will include some snide media comments and slights against one or more City players.

That will be keeping him awake at nights.

Can’t decide what would be best........Sergio Agüero securing the title with his 200th goal for the club, or Kevin De Bruyne scoring the winner and running past his old Manager..... :048:

James Lawton, wasn't it?

'twas. We were decrowned that year with 5 to go.

Rising: The choice of offals? - I just hope it's not AFT he is the biggest offal.

Skoorb 'Can’t decide what would be best........Sergio Agüero securing the title with his 200th goal for the club, or Kevin De Bruyne scoring the winner and running'

Perhaps a Kevin with an assist to Sergio would surfice :043:

Chelsea have had a pretty easy ride this season given their position. The media do seem to have soft spot for Conte.

The choice of offals for the derby will be interesting indeed.
