Sterlings Tattoo

What a load of rubbish from the national press.

Its a pretty poor choice of tattoo especially to mark the fact that his dad was shot and killed but its his leg and he can put a stupid tattoo on it if he wants.

I suspect that on reflection if he was asked to go and talk to the parents of children who had been shot and killed this year then he might regret his choice but no need for the media to over react in the way they have.

That´s like Mo Salah having a suicide belt tattoo around his torso , because he knew someone blown up in Egypt .

Given he knows what it’s like to lose a family member through gun crime that’s bollocks.

I don’t see people being criticised for all these peanut tattoos everyone’s got these days. Perhaps they should talk to the relatives of now deceased allergy-sufferers?

How many people have a tattoo of a Daggers or Snakes - loads why dont they ban them as well.

Sadly guns are needed for everyones security and safety in this mad world - its up to him how he defaces his skin and up parents to explain that not everything a role models does or says is the right way to go about things.

Read about this this morning. One quote that really struck me:

"Lucy Cope, who founded Mothers Against Guns after her son Damian was shot dead outside a club in central London in 2002, told the newspaper the tattoo was “totally unacceptable”. “We demand he has the tattoo lasered off or covered up with a different tattoo,” she said. “If he refuses he should be dropped from the England team. He’s supposed to be a role model but chooses to glamorise guns.”"

Now obviously I can sympathise with her and what she must have been through with her son being shot dead, but it's no different to what Sterling must have been through with his dad being shot dead. What gives her the right to "demand" that he has the tattoo lasered off or covered up with a different tattoo?

"You know, I wasn't going to go out and murder a bunch of people but then I saw that a footballer had a tattoo of a gun on his leg on social media and now it sounds like a great idea", said no-one, ever. Is there not anything important happening in the world at all?

I wonder with some people, do they buy their children toy guns, do they buy cowboy suites or Captain America costumes, what gives anyone the right to demand anything from him.

I haven't seen the tattoo but it is Sterling that will look a total nob for as long as he has this dumb thing on him .I have never seen the appeal of a tattoo's of any description .But this sounds dumber than anyone else has .If he wants to look a total nob guess it is his right to do so .

"What business is it of yours what I do, read, buy, see or take into my body as long as I don't harm another human being whilst on this planet?" - Bill Hicks

Damn straight.

In the old days , you only saw tattoos on ex cons or sailors/soldiers.

In future , we are going to be seeing some pretty awfull sights , as folk get older !

Not my thing, really (tattoos or guns), but each to their own I say. Not hurting anyone, despite what Mothers against guns might say.

What is more sad is the way that some people claim the criticism over the gun tattoo is motivated by underlying racism.

Personally, I have never liked tattoos, since I was a youth and saw girls and guys who had their love of life tattooed on a visibly prominent part of their body, only for months later to have separated from each other. But for that woman to accuse Sterling in such a way - Get a life Bitch!

I am going to admit that when I saw the news about an England striker getting a tattoo of a gun I immediately guessed it was Raheem Sterling rather than Harry Kane or Jamie Vardy. I'm obviously prejudiced to associate gun crime with blacks.
