State of the Squad At The End of The Season

Bowlers ommission yesterday said to me he is being nurtured along to remain injury free so he can be sold.
Robson, Thorniley and Ward will be gone too.
NC showed at the end of last season that he can be clinical and not sentimental - Kaikai, I think there may be 1 or 2 surprises.

Oxford confirmed as missing the playoffs after today.

Brannagan surely going to be playing in the Championship next year, just a question of for who.

If we offload Bowler Hat for a decent fee then surely you'd think we'd have a chance of landing him?

I heard yesterday that his preference is to stay near Oxford but play in the championship. Loves his fishing near there

Reading NC's comments here I think Kirk is a nailed on.

I'm happy with that, his corner drlivery is easily the best we hsve seen and for me I think he will fit in well with our plan to develop younger players for the long tern.

Blackpool will look at Charlie Kirk's future at the club in the next few weeks as the option to buy from Charlton remains.

Neil Critchley brought the winger, who he worked with as a youngster at Crewe, to Bloomfield Road on loan from the Addicks with a purchase option believed to be around the £500,000 fee Charlton paid to sign Kirk in the summer. His move to London hadn't gone as planned with a managerial change not allowing him consistent game time to prove his worth to Johnnie Jackson.

The Seasiders have shopped in this similar market in order to find talents from lower leagues and Kirk has stepped up to Championship level with relative comfort despite making just five starts since his arrival. In recent weeks, he has figured in the line-up more consistently and his final third quality has been a notable addition to a side that have been quite wasteful in that regard this campaign.

When Kirk arrived at Blackpool, Critchley was quick to point out his record of goals and assists in the lower divisions as a mark of his final third quality and believes he has settled into life at the club well, with discussions over his future to take place in the coming weeks.

"I think Charlie has shown his qualities, he makes that little bit of difference in the final third with the technical quality that's he got with both feet and at set pieces. I don't think he's looked out of place in the Championship at all, he's settled into the group really well," Critchley told Lancs Live.

"Beyond that I wouldn't want to speculate because he's a Charlton player and he's only on loan here so that'll be something that we have to think about in the next few weeks."

Well I for one would like to see him sign. Best crosser of the ball we have. He's a good lad.

Is he ever going to be more than a decent squad player though? Bit like Dale in Jan (though Kirk has already shown more) £500k is a lot to spend on someone who probably doesn’t make the first XI and isn’t likely to improve much.

Course we’ll sign him though.

I can see us trying to offload Dale. I don't see him anywhere near the first team and with the squad numbers restricting further I can't see us being able to afford any space for passengers.
