Stags away

Vital Reserves Team
Difficult game, depends totally upon whether the players are up for the battle. Love to win but would settle for a 1-1 draw.

I had the same scoreline in mind. They have been poor of late and they haven't scored many goals but they'll be up for this one. Thankfully, our team beats no resemblance to the one that capitulated so woefully last season and we certainly have the character to go there and get something out of it. I'll settle for a draw but be hoping for more.

Got my ticket and am hopeful of a decent result. Mansfield arent prolific and we tend to score goals so I'll go for a fifth straight away win, 2-1.
The bad news is I've been wrong every match so far this season.

The early kick off has scuppered me this year as the wife is working until lunchtime so I'm looking after the kids. I'm still scarred from what I witnessed at Field Mill last year but I'm looking forward to getting my Notts fix with 2 home games next week. Give them a shout for me Optipez.

so it will be 3-1? :hihi:

I knew our record against them in recent years was bad but I saw a stat the other day that said we had beaten them once in the league since 2000. I'd be interested to hear Optipez's view on the game. I see that one or two on Mad are reacting similarly to the way they did after the Accrington defeat. Losing to the Stags is always painful but we're still in a good position and we have an opportunity on Tuesday to bounce straight back. Plenty more to be positive about than negative so far this season.

We were looking pretty comfortably left first half and probably shaded it. Second half Stags came out and upped the tempo.
The goals conceded were all poor but they deserved the win, no doubt.
That's the third defeat I've seen , Yeovil, Accrington and today. The similarities are that while looking organized we are pedestrian and there's a hole in the middle where a Bishop / Liddle type character should be.
In a midfield three you need drive and Aborah can't dominate or run for ninety mins, Rodman is a bit lightweight and only Milsom has the grit required but not the flair.
Disappointing and listening to Sheridan on the way back I couldn't fault his analysis.
For a derby we were bloodless and didn't seem to want it enough.

I think that we have the options up front to change the way that we play but, the midfield appears to be less adaptable. Today would have been a good time to have Smith in the middle of the park (is he still injured?). He would have added some bite to the midfield. It will be interesting to see what happens on Tuesday if O'Connor still isn't fit because it just doesn't seem to be working with Stanley.
