Squad: June 2024

That squad is shaping up nicely!!! Good blend of experience and youth.
Be very interesting to see what happens to the younger players. Zane is explosive with very good feet & MJ looks like he's packed on some much needed size! Kept around the squad or loans for them??
One minor point - while he may be training with the first team, Zane isn't actually a first team squad member (yet).

OK, Teddy Bishop and Danny Mandroiu have both been removed from the squad page on the OS; Lewis Montsma is still there.

Therefore, I will now amend the squad listing accordingly.
Interesting Montsma is still there. Will always hope he re-signs and finds his best form.

Will wish the best to Bishop and Mandriou (but of course hoping that they always fare slightly worse than we do).

So we have six central midfielders and strikers apiece. There is no truth in the rumour we are paranoid about injuries in those positions after last season :grinning:

I guess he a squad number last year but listed on the U18’s. Which now I’ve had a look at, there’s some interesting names listed, wonder if our search overseas has lead to some U18s signing on.

Fair point very well made Sir😜
Really hoping he's part of the first team squad this season & then certain haters of the Academy can eat some humble pie😉

As I said recently I think we need 3 for certain positions after the last few seasons not two as some would recommend, we're the exception to the rule 😂

We certainly look to have a very tall first team squad this season.

Apart from Moylan, do we have anyone under 6 foot?

Midfield especially are all tall.

Not complaining as it may well be an advantage at this level.

I think there will be further outgoings, both loans and terminations. At the finish,i expect there will be a stronger squad with genuine depth. Last season at the start we had a bigger squad ,of which genuine first team contenders,IMO,was just over half.

Don't get the thing with height at all! Don't get me wrong it's good to have the odd tall player in defence but that aside does the restvof the pitch really matter??
Joe Morrell is one of the best Midfielders I've seen here. Jack Payne for the first 6 games was unreal. That Messi fellas ok too😜
If you're a good player height shouldn't come into the equation!!!

Spot on this
We had 28/29 on the books obviously not including the loan players and come the end of January 9 or 10 were out on loan, that's far too many IMHO for a club of our size, we're not Chelsea!

The lack of options cost us in the end.
As has been mentioned we need as many league one ready as possible.
Of those loaned out last season I can only Gallagher and Bradshaw being here.
A lot on here think Benn is league one, let's hope so.
I'm guessing next stop will be 2 or 3 loans in? Another permanent?
Interesting times ahead, looking forward to it

It's okay to have the odd small player if they bring something extra to the team but height is important in any team.

L1 has big physical teams and they succeed unless you are big and physical enough to compete with them.

Once you can do that, you may get the chance to bring the ball down and play football.

💯 disagree. That's such an old out dated thought process!!!
Would you take a big player over a better smaller technical player?? If so then that's crazy!!!
Like I said a tall centre half then maybe but anywhere else you simply take the better player!!!
