The WSL isn't growing, it is in decline. It's doing everything wrong in the chase for money.​


Without Arsenal women the decline for the past 2 seasons. Without them, attendances are down. The number of young players coming through are declining with fewer players under 24 playing in the WSL

We now see the WSL2 isn't a good place for loans. Now the lack of English opportunity is starting to affect the Lionesses and the move to Sky has ensured there are far fewer viewers, in fact 1/10th of the viewership for the arsenal Chelsea game which it switched to Sky:

An interesting discussion on the matter. A lot of discussion here about the influence of the Carney report, which ignored 'what would fans actually want to watch' as it focused on aping the men's game, social justice and copying the US model, which itself doesn't have great attendances. Frankly a lot of poor decisions being made and false narratives that don't get supported by the facts to grow the game.

They dont consider there are only so many fans to go around in some big cities that have multi teams .. in London we have 7 WSL teams

also we are situated in an area where travelling from afar is just too complicated expensive in the current fuel crisis and frought with so many problems ... zero parking, expensive transport system, regular network engineering works on match days (esp Sundays).
So will it be better at the Lane, Hmm - Im not so sure but with a team worthy of going to go see I think we can get to a regular 8-10k fanbase but we will never be 20-40k mainly becos there is not enough people YET waiting to pick a team to be part of. As I mentioned b4 there is just not enough fans in London to ensure all stadiums get 20k let alone 8k

Tottenham Hotspur CEO Vinai Venkatesham on the Women's team, in a recent meeting with the FAB...

• The Club recognised that the Women’s team has not previously been prioritised sufficiently • Investment has been made in Martin, the coaching staff and the January transfer window, with further investment planned (and already visible) in this summer window
• The Club is planning improvements to Women’s team facilities and will continue to keep the FAB updated on any developments
• The Club noted the Women’s team’s best-ever league season but stated that ambitions remain higher
• A Women’s Growth Director will join in the Autumn to spearhead the continued growth of our women’s football audience and off-pitch engagementClub to include the FAB in a co-project around growing the women’s game supporter-base, building on the principle of One Club, two teams
• Rafi Moersen noted that further announcements on the Women's team leadership structure would follow shortly and reiterated the commitment to continued investment in the team.
• In response to a question from supporter representatives VV confirmed the rebuild on the men’s side would not take focus away from the Women’s team. He explained before the Men’s season finished the budgets for the Women’s transfer window were already signed off and he addressed the Women’s players directly as a group to assure them that the outcome of the Men’s season would not impact the ambition we have for Spurs Women.

Seems the Squad list has been updated

the 6 have been deleted
Hamano still shows as on loan
and Thomas/Csiki still out on loan ?????

However no new signings added as yet - that's par for the course even with the release of the new shirt but then I guess none start until 1st July anyhow

I really hope Hamano stays. There must be some news on this soon.
 
The AWOL report

Amy James Turner concluded her contract this month and technically has not been seen for 2 years with little or no news

She recently was posted as now in Seattle to be with her partner Angharad (Seattle Reign player) and has taken on the role of youth development coach for Seattle Utd and also plans to take her coffe van around Seattle selling their own brand of coffee and treats. Angharad is still is on their roster for 2026 but doesnt say for how long.

Why was she gone so long? ... well it seems she said this in 2024 unbeknown to most of us

This season will live long in the memory of my career. Starting IVF in 2024 feels like a lifetime ago.

Thats is why the club supported her for so long (good on em)

I am the father of 2 boys (now grown lads) from IVF and know exactly what is involved and the stress it causes (esp the mother) due to the money one spends with no guarantees. Amy is the mother in the relationship so now we know.

All the best Amy and hope it all works out for you both in the US - just hope you have a good medical insurance set up (Im sure she has)

The sandal brigade come down from their tree houses and campaign now to save "our butterflies" from the dangers of THFC .... what's next eh? .. an enviromental camp for mental health cleansing. If they are not careful the gypsies will move in and that will be a whole new ball game.

It’s a dilemma. More people don’t support Spurs than do. There are fewer and fewer open spaces for families to enjoy in London so maybe THFC can identify another way to provide the N17 community with attractive and alternative family activities.

I tried to post a google map of the area and it is clearly desolate and in bad repair ... maybe they should spend their court case money on doing what they preach iso fighting us who will do better for the area that is left.
At least the butterflies come to Potspur way to get away from these nomads
