Everybody knows the January transfer window opens on January 1 2017 but with games so early in the New Year some early signings may not be eligible to make their competitive debuts..

Not the Zaha rumours again, please. Another Townsend.

Have to disagree pollo, he is a much better standard then townsend and can use his pace and trickery very well. Would be a good addition to the team but is way overvalued which is the norm now so can't complain.

Much better standard? 6 goals and 3 assists in the last 2 seasons, what sort of standard is that?

He is just another braindead athlete who rarely controls the ball.

We'll agree to disagree.

Funny that you mention Lamela, because what Lamela produced in one season Zaha couldn't match his entire career.

Premier league buddy.

Both same age, Lamela last season had more goals(5-2) assists(9-1), chances created(75-41), key passes(66-40), higher dribble %, more tackles, interceptions, blocks, less possession lost etc.

And Lamela played less minutes.

Your move.

unfortunately, Zaha conforms a great deal to the Ron Atkinson School of Player-Assessment... plenty of pace but very little of anything else..

if all thats required is pace in a footballer nowadays, why not just set up a recruitment agency in Kingston Jamaica and go from there... I hear Insain Dolt is after a footballing career

surely it would be far more cost-effective.

Is that it, i thought you were going to throw this wonder season at me with goals galore and assists. Thats a piss poor season for a title challenging team against some player who was in a relegation battle.

Do better.

You're the one parading a player who has 3 assists in 2 full PL seasons.

Even Trippier, playing RB for a relegated Burnley managed 4 in one season.

You've set Lamela as the benchmark for Zaha the world beater, it is up to you to do better.

You compared zaha to townsend, zaha is much better in every way. I compare zaha to lamela as I dont see much difference . Zaha has more speed and skill

Zaha on 3 goals and 2nd in assists this season. Lamela hasnt been banging them has he? His top season in a title challenging season is 5.

Townsend played 1087 for a relegated Newcastle, scoring 4 and assisting 2, sompared to Zaha's 1 assist and 2 goals in 2500 minutes.

You are right, Townsend is a better footballer.

And for future reference, comparing an injured player who has barely played doesn't make a constructive argument. That's why I compared the last 2 seasons in which Lamela is superior in any category you wish.

Robson-Kanu has a brain but he isnt a lone striker... WBA under the defensive Pulis play with just 1 up top with lots of pace for countering with.. even Chadli is being wasted there.

R-K would be a revelation at a team like Pud... very similar to Firmino in the way he can bring others into a game and drop off into unmarked areas..

He played enough before his injury and had the huge incentive of CL football to make an impact if he was good enough. He was, in fact, the worst player in our starting 11, inadequate in everything and against all opposition. If five goals in a full season for a dominating team is superior then no surprise that we finished third in a two-horse race.

I didn't rate Zaha much to be honest. But have watched him closely this season and he has upped his game. Complete opposite to Bera.

I would like better but the reality is we won't get better. Poch's track record for forward players is crap.

We should have signed players like Boufal, Tadic. Lanzini. Technical players, who would thrive with players like Eriksen, Lamela.

We've been there before RD & were far the worse for it. I know we can look a bit pedestrian at times but you can't deny that we look formidable at the back. Even in central midfield we practically own the league.

I reckon it's pace we lack & Zaha offers that in abundance. It's a moot point though cos he's not worth the asking price.

Steveperryman imo Zaha is hardly worth £5 let alone half the price quoted by Palace. Speed he has but zilch end product – I think Walker has the same amount of assists as him this season… Barge pole I say.
