Tottenham duo Dele Alli and Harry Kane have been ranked as the second and third most valuable players in Europe by a new study.

Only Neymar is considered a more valuable player than the Spurs stars in a new study by the CIES Football Observatory, whose algorithm for working out a footballer’s worth is based on an analysis of nearly 2,000 fee paying transfers.

Their algorithm values Alli at £136.5million, with Kane just behind on £135.2m. Barcelona star Neymar, 25, is by some distance the continent’s most prized asset with a worth of £185.4m.

CIES data also factors in contract length and age when working out a player’s value, perhaps explaining why five-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi, whose Barcelona deal expires in 2018, is worth £133.5m.

Alli 'enjoying the journey' at Tottenham amid transfer speculation

?Alli and Kane are not the only Tottenham players to rank highly using CIES’ metrics, with Eric Dier given a price of £74.8m and Christian Eriksen £72.6m.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard is among a group of 10 players valued at over £100m, with his £103.1m price tag an accurate estimation of the sort of fee Real Madrid had been considering paying for the two-time player of the year.

An ankle fracture may have prompted the European champions to switch focus to the much in-demand Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, whose value is rated at £81.5m, £5.5m less than ars*nal bid for the 18-year-old.

All of ars*nal target Kylian Mbappe's Ligue 1 goals

ars*nal’s only representative in the top 25 is Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez. Despite having only a year to run on his contract he is ascribed a price tag of £84.4m, though the Gunners are likely to have to settle for significantly less if they are forced to sell him this summer.

With the array of talent at spurs it seems odd that they haven't come close to winning anything yet.

But they did.

What have spurs won with this array of talent?

You said close to winning. We have come close to winning the league twice.

Next.

IF finishing 10 and 7 pts behind the winner is close then i suppose your right. In fact spurs came 3rd behind Lester and arse the season before so that wasn't even close in the end. Spurs are building a dynasty of coming close even though they have the 2nd and 3rd most valuable players in the world. Lester won it with crap. Work that one out. Maybe the players at spurs are too good for MP to win something with.

Even though we came 'close' the pressure got to us both seasons.

When the chavs had a little blip we could have out even more pressure on them by stuffing them in the FA cup semi and we blew it and that spurred them on to win every game until the end of the season and we lost it against west ham.

The season before, we blew it against ars*nal and west ham that gave leicester the breathing room to comfortably win the league.

We lost the title this year in the first couple of months. Our finish was extraordinary. I agree about the pressure two years ago but not this year.

What utter nonsense, we won 13 out of our last 14 games. Why feel you need to denigrate their efforts only you will know, how anyone can say winning 13 out of 14 games is letting the pressure get to them is beyond me.

^ ROTFLMAO!

Bottled it against west ham both seasons. Embarrassing and weak minded. At least we turned up for the last 2 games unlike the season before.

I get the West Ham thing but we didn't buckle We didn't score enough goals early in the season.

1 loss every 14 games would be equal to the PL Championship pretty much any year.

I know, im just taking the piss. The thing I was trying to say for this season was chelsea had lost 2 out of 4 before the semi and we had a real chance to knock there confidence further but we gave them a boost.

A few posters on here were questioning conte and how the pressure was starting to get to him before the semi. Its all ifs and buts. Lets hope next season is 3rd time lucky.

As Taricco the yid points out the FA cup was was the key to a trophy and could have unnerved the Chavs in the PL. Considering Spurs have the third most valuable squad behind RM and Barca (who actually win trophies even in bad years) losing to a less valuable team the chavs, must go down as under achieving.

To be fair, it must have thrown poch and some players off when costa and hazard were left on the bench. I dont see that we under achieved. Poch must have had a reason to play son at LWB but he didnt know the chavs were planning to play us without there 2 biggest threats.

Tarrico,

he's yanking your chain, he's a reincarnated wum...

Tarrico, we have all played in teams where the coach makes a weird selection/ decision it generally unsettles the players as they wonder why the coach has made that decision. MP choice of Son at LWB must have been spoken about among the spurs players as it was the 1st time son had been used in that role and in the biggest match of the season. Hazzard and costa on the bench should have given the players a lift seeing two top players not starting. I suppose moving the overly right footed trippier to left side in place of son was another master stroke missed by the MP haters.
