Football agent Sky Andrew believes former Tottenham captain Sol Campbell should have been invited to attend the club’s last home fixture at White Hart Lane.

The retired defender has been overlooked by the north London club ahead of their final match at their current White Hart Lane stadium on May 14.

Campbell became a hate figure among fans following his decision to quit Spurs and join their deadly north London rivals ars*nal in 2001.

But Andrew believes Campbell’s decision to leave for ars*nal was for purely football reasons and should not come in the way of him attending the landmark occasion.

“I would like to see him invited. Spurs are a fantastic club – they’re doing great – they’ve probably got the best [starting] 11 in the world,” Andrew told Drivetime.

“It would be great for him to be there for the last game at the Lane and for everybody to finish on a good note.”

Campbell infamously left Tottenham for ars*nal on a free transfer before enjoying a trophy laden spell with their north London rivals.

But Andrew insists his client fulfilled his duties with his former club and that a lack of silverware was the major motive in his decision to leave.

“Sol Campbell did absolutely nothing wrong,” Andrew said.

“You cannot castigate a player for honouring his contract. I know people say things like: Sol Campbell did it on purpose.

“How can he do it on purpose? How could a player with two or three years left on his contract think: I’m going to see my contract out.

“Too many things happen – you break your leg, you lose form – I just want to make it clear that Sol Campbell did absolutely nothing wrong.

“It was his responsibility to play football and it was the club’s responsibility to offer players contracts, and to offer them the right contract at the right time.

“He wasn’t offered a contract early, but I have a lot of respect for the people who were in control of the club at the time.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for Alan Sugar - and I know a lot fans criticise him – but Alan Sugar is a very straight person, who tries to do things straight.

“But all that happened – and this happens at a lot of clubs – you’ve got a player that absolutely fulfils his potential at a club. And then there’s a problem if the club isn’t fulfilling its potential as well.

“But I can tell you, it was such a difficult decision for Sol. He refused to speak to any club. We were in January, February, March - he refused to speak to any club.

“No club in Europe can say that Sol Campbell agreed to speak to them, because he wanted to sort out the situation with Spurs.

“At that time, he was only thinking about staying with Spurs. In the end, he maybe saw his aspirations elsewhere, but I’m telling you now – that was very late in the day.”

The club have invited 80 former players and managers to the match with Manchester United on May 14.

He's so arrogant he would turn up

We should invite him so we can throw bottles of piss on the ****

I agreed with the decision not to invite Judas and I hope he doesn't show his face in the lane.

He could have went to any club in the world and he chose those fucks. He even said barca came in for him. What he did is unforgivable. It turned out the right decision for himself regarding trophies but he should not be allowed anywhere near our club again.

Is it not the case that he kept stalling on a new contract, giving the Impression that he was going to sign, then let his contact run down and then fucked off to our hated rivals on a free... There are some divides that you don't cross, and whether through arrogance or stupidity,or both,he did. That P**ck should be wiped from Tottenham's History.. still is and always will be "Judas".. :90:

Bottom line is he screwed over the club that brought him up and nurtured him to become the player he did, he lied continuously about his intentions, but most of all he went back on his very own promise of never ever crossing the road to our neighbors .

He did and had lived with the consequences, and I'm happy that he found the medals he deserved, but he pissed on every Tottenham fan in the process, and did it willfully and knowingly.

Fcuk him and fcuk that lying turd of an agent.

The season before he left, United put in a bid of £19 million, but was turned down, the club thinking him loyal. Fergie sneered, 'we'll come back next year and get him for nothing then'. So anywhere but United from Spurs point of view, even ars*nal. Was gutted at the time when he jumped ship.

One thing for sure here is that Campbell has said nothing and not even asked to come to the Utd game. All the talking has once again been done by that idiot Sky Andrew and we should ask why TalkSport even entertained a guy with that little credibility in the game on their show.

I'm sure that Campbell is sitting at home knowing that he has no place being at WHL for the Utd game. He made his choices a long time ago and now lives with them. Andrew is just stirring things up as always and trying to undermine our final hoorah at the Lane.

In life, some people have no class and never will have.

I don't want to be seen to defending him, but he was interviewed by drivetime after that plank Adrian fatwit did a number on Spurs not having them on the invite list, they then managed to get him on the phone.....so I'm not sure he would have said anything if it hadn't been for Talksport making an issue/story of it...

That said, his answers just underlines the extent to which agents will deny reality to get their money and protect their clients...

When he moved to Arsenal, former Tottenham Hotspur centre-back was called all the names under the sun. However, as Sol's name has come to the forefront, again, what is your opinion..

Not done anything wrong? This is where agents can only identify Legal obligations rather than moral principles.

I'm glad this story has come about so we can snub him publicly.

His agent is a prick and so is he. He has never once tried to make amends for that transfer and he has made it very clear that his allegiances are with the Goons. Why on earth should we forget that so he can have a nice day out? It would be a total fake and might actually ruin what should be a nice party at WHL.

Tim Sherwood isn't publicly moaning about not being invited and he did more for our club, despite being a total bell end.

Graham Roberts on twitter:

'ha ha invite sol to last game you mean the man who cost club 20 million and lied all the way to the club yes sure fans will love him to come!'

Can't imagine. He's been nothing but a ***** since he left, not like he's been out there saying kind words.

If memory serves me right didn't he suffer a mental breakdown? I know this sort of thing is a 'hot topic' at the moment but just imagine if he did attend the last game. I think the whole occasion might just tip him over the edge.
