Labour had 13 years to bring in all these Polices when they had a Huge Majority, so why didn't they if they were so concerned about the poorest in Society.

How is that? I'm not advocating that we should only aspire to be as far up the World League table as many of the African Countries, or be happy that Millions of our population live on only £10 a day.
BUT for crying out loud, it really hacks me off when a lot of people jump on the 'We should all have equal rights to wealth' bandwagon
Yes I agree, we should ALL be able to have the opportunity to better ourselves, some will be good at it, some will make a complete pigs ear of it.
But for those that do make a success of their lives, better themselves, make the riches their hard work deserves, why should that envelope a sense of greed, envy and entitlement to those at the bottom who are not prepared to work for it?
Why should I work my socks off in my job, earn a wage, pay my taxes, bills and food costs with a little left to enjoy the things I do, yet see Millions around the Country dossing about, doing cack all to improve their lives, 'earning' double what I do in State hand outs thinking that is their given right?
The latest Hi-Tech Plasma flat screen is not a right!
Expensive holidays EVERY YEAR is not a right!
The latest fashion in clothes is no a right!
Having as many children as you can create and expecting everyone else to pay for the cost is not a right!
OK not all that have little or no money are like this, but a vast number in this Country are and sorry to say, Labour have created over many years this Everyone should be equally entitled, creating an 'I want it now' society
Well I'm afraid it doesn't work like that, never has and never will.
As for just letting hundreds of thousands keep coming to this Country because it's fair to do so...... We are an Island Nation, eventually East, West, North or South, you hit water. When we have to start building blocks of flats on Skegness, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Cornish beaches as there is no more room inland, what happens then?

I don't think you can necessarily blame the wealth generation of the rich people and businesses for the woes of others.
I've done alright for myself through co-founding a .com (Not football club buying rich, but doing pretty well)
We paid tax on our profits. Ultimately to unlock the wealth we'd generated we sold the business which is where the majority of my cash has come from, but had to pay tax then as well.
We generated jobs directly by being employers and most of those jobs still exist today.
We certainly gave some of our profits to charity.
As I (or mostly my wife) spend my money it's getting released back into the economy for the government to take another tax bight. (And in a lot of cases aids our local economy by giving a bit of work to small local businesses)

My gaining of wealth has been beneficial to the country, not detrimental.
Granted other people might have got their wealth in other ways, but plenty of the rich list are entrepreneurs too.
Most left wing arguments I don't have a problem with. There's arguments both ways as to what's best for the long term of the country and I'm not political enough to try to tell people which way to vote, but there's a lot of demonisation of the successful in left wing rhetoric that grates with me. (I admit rereading your later reply maybe that's not what you're trying to do, but there are many that do and I've gone to the trouble of writing this post now so I'm going to hit submit.)

I don't disagree with a word, I've had a successful IPO also, my point was simply to note the growing disparity between the top and bottom. Right wing rhetoric such as 'policy of envy' grates as much as left wing though, I believe there is a moral component to life and that's not suspended for the wealthy simply because they're wealthy.

MrsB I'm relatively proud that I've put more into life than taken out but also aware that mostly that's because of circumstances I've no control over such as the family we're born into or the gifts we're given.

Benefits need cutting,my son works his bollocks off on minimum wage and manages to just about survive,pays his bills and demands.
His next door neighbour is a young couple,I think around seventeen years of age with two young kids,off course they don't work,they smoke and drink got a sky dish,nice pushchair for the babies,mobile phones,old car etc etc.
My son dreams of sky and a new I phone, if only minimum wage would allow it.
Someone must sort these idol scroungers out once and for all.

There must be loads of these people about because strangely enough, just about word for word, I've heard/read this exact same story over, and over again. I've yet to actually meet one of these 17 year olds that gets all of the above perks from signing on the dole, but hey it must be true because people keep saying so.

I have known people though that have been laid off and been unable to claim any money after previously working all of their adult life, as well as disabled people that are incapable of work suddenly be told that there's nothing wrong with them, so therefore they wont be getting a penny from the state.

I have no truck with the left, they created this and it's a bloody mess, Brown lavished Money on his client Votes , we therefore did have an underclass who were abusing the system, we all know Folk that are

The problem is the Tories in putting a stop to the abuse and rightly so are catching too many worthy claimants in the net and don't seem to care. We have a duty of care to People why for no reason of there own find themselves in financial dudu.

The ones who use Benefits as a lifestyle choice or cheat it really should be ashamed for the situation they have created, and equally the Tories need to back of and improve the effiency of who is or isn't able to qualify

There is plenty of money available they just don't target it correctly, the next contentious issue will be thousand of African migrants who have been plucked from the Med arriving, more cheap Labour for the non tax paying Corporations

Popey perhaps sorting them out will not benefit my son but it will reduce the welfare bill for the scrounging few who will not work.
It is a very difficult decision to know the difference between can work and won't or cannot work because of illness.
Child benefit should stop after two children,if you want more pay for them why should we.
Stop the rights for housing if you become pregnant.
These are common sense changes which will save millions and let the people who need the money have it and will reduce the needs for cuts to public services

I feel sorry for your son having to see that contrast. However, imagine where he would be without the minimum wage brought in by labour - one of their finest achievements that has made a huge difference to millions of people including your son.

The welfare budget is not to blame here. Benefit scroungers exist, of course, but in very small numbers. Cuts affect the genuinely needy - don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Really they are an almost mythical entity.

There should be a mechanism to refuse it. Same with the bus pass. Trouble is the mechanisms are also expensive to implement. Especially means testing.

AS ITTO says thank heavens for the Minimum wage I would argue that is not enough and by no means enforced strongly enough
 
MMB, there are some serious changes, in the coming decades, concerning the labor market, that will affect millions of people, if some forecasts prove correct.

For example, a study from Brussels think-tank Bruegel found 51 percent of jobs in Germany at the moment could be computerized and left to robots.

European countries most at risk from this computerization were Romania (62 percent) and Italy, Poland, Bulgaria and Greece - all 56 percent.

So in Germany alone out 30.9 million people currently in full or part-time employment in Germany, 18 million will be made redundant by improved technology, the report claims.

interesting post on the weekends actions

I Don't normally go in for FB posts but after today I would like to say something to those that were involved in the spat outside Downing Street yesterday and the heroes I saw there earlier...
The VE celebrations were fantastic, I was brought to emotion seeing and listening to the veterans and those around at the time 70 years ago, I truly cannot imagine, as I'm sure neither can the few people who read this, the strength and courage needed and shown by these people at the time. You truly are an example to us today and I salute you all.
Which brings me to the despicable actions of yesterday......
My message to those people that attempted to 'storm' Downing Street yesterday:
I make an assumption that you would be considered sympathetic to the left of centre politically. I base this assumption largely on the fact that you clearly don't like the conservatives, you attacked the Police and weren't waving BNP banners. Sadly for you this country has what's called a democracy and people have a right to vote freely. This is a precious gift that many in this world do not have. when tens of millions of people nationally turn out to vote this is a good thing. You cannot try and oppress a democratically voted election (assuming you voted) because you didn't like the result, A 100 years ago people died in protesting to achieve this, I feel sure that Emily Davison and Emmeline Pankhurst will be looking down in shame . These ladies gave everything to achieve the vote. I would also like to point out that as disgusting and twisted as Nick Griffin and his ilk are never have the far right attempted to storm Downing Street because they didn't get their own way.
Oh and apparently as well as not liking the 'tories' you were protesting against austerity? And you decided the best way was to attack the Police and cause havoc in central London? Nice one. In case you don't know the meaning of austerity i'll explain it in my own way - the country is skint and we are not financially in a good place.
I don't know the exact cost of your actions yesterday but lets have a guess shall we? Police, Ambulance/NHS, Fire officers (most on overtime as your presence was unannounced), the clean up bill, closing roads for Tfl etc etc, its got to be a couple of hundred thousand pounds. I'm sure that there are many NHS trusts, schools etc that would be begging for that money right now. Well done!! Anti austerity at its best......
The Police officers that you attacked (and injured) believe it or have far more reason than you to dislike the 'tories'. Public sector cuts have hit the Police as much as anyone, pensions lost, wages and staff cut etc etc. But as always they showed the true spirit of the British nation and with a 'stiff upper lip' stood their ground and did their job. I hope Teresa May and Tom Winsor were watching.....
Which brings me to my last paragraph on this over worded post.
I would like to know who criminally damaged the war memorial, especially on VE weekend? On the miniscule chance you get to read his I would like to ask why????? What was going through your head??? Perhaps you are anti war? Perhaps your forefathers were 'pacifists' in WW2 and were content to let the Nazis take over the known world? If that's the case its pretty comical if you think about it, left wing desecrating a memorial to those that stopped the Nazi's. I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad, the veterans today didn't even bat an eyelid at your pathetic attempt yesterday. You know why?? Because you are nothing and compared to what they have been through you are a joke. Society doesn't exist purely for you, you do not have the right to do as you did and I hope the justice system acts harshly when you are caught. I have a few more words for you but out of respect I won't use them in a public forum.
