So what next? Who stays? Who goes? Who comes in?

Deano has made the point that bringing in premier league experience is important. We don't need to overhaul the entire squad again. A proven striker - possibly two - a winger and a top central defender is a must. Our defence has improved but now we need the firepower to climb the table next year.
If we signed both Mitrovic and Wilson that would be a very good start and miles better than what we have currently. I like Davis but can't see him cutting the mustard at this level.
I think Mitrovic would work better in this team than a Calum Wilson. The amount we lump the ball forward means we need a hold up player, Mitrovic is very good at that plus adds a goal threat, his international record is terrific 34 goals in 55 games.

5 maximum for me + extend Reina's deal for a season so Heaton can get fit.

CB, CM, CF need to be real quality players and then a LB and Wide Player. Targett needs competition and Taylor should be moved on. We can't trust AEG and Trez so they need more competition too.
Seeing how that ball looped over him yesterday makes it a no for me, his legs look like they're made out of cement, too old.

Reading through all these posts, seems like Engels has been written off by most. Yes, he had a run of poor games after starting very well, but considering the way we were playing as a team at the time and him adjusting I'd hardly say that half a dozen below-average performances and a long term injury are reason to believe he can't come good (again).
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the only defensive concerns for me are left-back and possibly goalkeeper, both of which aren't desperate. Let's not forget that players like Hause, Mings, Konsa are all now considered premier -league players after a year, and will be better players next season for the experience. Just have to look at the change in Douglas Luiz after he had time to reflect, settle-in and get up to speed....
We should be focused on another central, or left midfielder, and the front three positions. Get some players who can play with Grealish and McGinn further up the pitch....

I agree with this, Engels and Mings were pretty solid before his injury, and when he came back it just didnt work for him and very visible errors cost him. I remember many of us saying that he was the quieter CB but often more reliable than Mings before he got hurt.

Any word when the new kit gets revealed? I assume its all ready and they were just waiting for confirmation of which league we are playing in next season

We'll be last to it as per usual. Some teams have already worn next seasons kit in their last game to show it off but ours will be coming out in September or something.

We should be really excited about several players we have.

Heaton
Konsa
SJ
SJM
Luiz
Guilbert.
And I think I'd add Konsa to that list. It's the spine of a good team. We just have to buy players of the same ilk or better, to slot in around them....

Think that’s more to do with contractual reasons, sponsors changing etc. because of the season being longer. Liverpool should be in Nike by now but think they agreed with NB for them to keep adorning the kit til the season actually finished.

I’m a huge fan of Mitro. I think he’s class, and I like his slightly loose cannon temperament. Watching him a few times against us, even at the young age of 24 he was bullying our defenders.

The thing we need are two out and out wingers who can support and play off him, and supply him with chances.

He's certainly a cult hero type, works very hard, would be a good signing.

Reckon the suggestions so far are way off mark. The owners are seemingly ambitious. If they are, then this is a big opportunity for a big leap upwards. I think they'll keep most of the existing squad, because there's enough there to form part of what we need. But in terms of signings I think they'll look for real quality, maybe 4 players who could fit into almost any PL team.

Those sorts of players cost £60m a throw, I just don't see it I'm afraid, nice idea though.

World class players will go for less than this due to some clubs being on the verge of bankruptcy.
Depends on your definition of “world class” but I would imagine the few clubs who have genuine world beating players aren’t going to go bust or sell their best players to us on the cheap

If we play two out and out wingers who can get crosses in the box then the strikers we have might do better. Playing Samatta, Wesley and Davis as lone strikers is putting them on a hiding to nothing. Davis fares better than the other two but he still has to get into the box with 2 or 3 defenders around him. Jack is not a winger but if we had a good supplier he would play as a No 10.
I wonder if Tony Morley would come out of retirement for a season???
