Not very it would appear. Or maybe we are the least deluded.

I think if SL can keep this squad out of the relegation places this season he will have done well.

The chairman has not backed him budget wise as he has other managers in the past. This may well be down to financial constraints .

At present we are run on a league two budget and financialy we can no longer compete at this level. Looking at Shrewsbury last season ,we can only hope a miracle is in progress.

As a Gills fan i'm allways optimistic, as that's the nature of the beast. We have an excellent manager who loves the club and he deserves support from all.

Have I missed something? How do people "know" what our budgets are this season and how they compare to others?

I know that I'm having problems getting on this site coz of a moronic Quantcast message that blocks me unless I close the tab and reopen the site. However I think id have seen an announcement or discussion of the figures on here.

First time I can remember Scallywag has not backed our manager, start of season looks tough enough let alone injuries we seem to have already,
You always have to be philosophical being Gills supporter, but without a fair season crowds will be very poor, personally at the stage where I’m to old to freeze my nuts off in winter, and at all our granddaughters requests for baby sitting or days out with them,
Still see as many as I can,but season ticket no more, just think deep down going to be very tough, home form key.

Well, that added to the fact that the one time we played our 'first' team in a friendly, we got stuffed by a side well below us.

Good to see that bookies have us rock bottom wasn't it the same last season and we done alright. Time to prove people wrong yet again.
Are squad isn't that bad just needs a few additions which can be done through the loan window.

Maybe we should wait for the first few games of the real season before complaining.

Same core as last year with added youth, just need to improve the home form.

I am more than happy with my 100/1 to be champions and 50/1 to get promoted so f the bookies and pundits :)

Not sure I agree with the 'not backed SL' stance. To me, it looks like SL has been shopping for names he already knew of or thought he could trust - young players from Bromley & Charlton, where he's previously worked, plus a couple with League One experience in Parrett & Fuller.

The only one I'm a tad puzzled/disappointed with is the reluctance to sign Moussa given his 4 goals in pre-season. Seemed a promising return in an effort to gain a contract - I've not seen any of the games though! Maybe the other business was done too early, packing our midfield options with little room for maneuver?

Beyond that, who would we have over Eaves, Parker, Byrne, Bingham, Zakuani, Ehmer, Holy..? Injuries permitting, that spine is much the same as last year & we ended up doing OK

Think you've answered the question yourself. Lots of midfielders and although Moussa looked a bit lighter than he did earlier in the year, he still had his hamstring taped for the Chatham game so not fully free from the niggles which curtailed his season just gone.

Indeed we did when they were firing on all cylinders and I don't think you'll see much better than that in L1.

Sorry 88, this table doesnt show that the bookies have us rock bottom. Only that fewer of our fans think we will win the league than any fans of other clubs thinking their team will win it.

It doesn't mean that either, does it? Just that BetVictor have taken fewer bets on us to win the league than they have on any other team. There doesn't appear to be anyting to specify whether the people placing those bets support the team they're backing.

That said, I wouldn't expect there to be many non-Gills fans backing us, and at the other end of the scale I'd have thought there will be a lot of non-Sunderland fans who've backed them.

A young player, or players, starting out somewhere in 2018/19 League One will come good - it always seems to happen. With a good number of youngsters in our squad perhaps the emerging player/s will be wearing Gills` shirts. I`m optimistic that we`ll see a breakthrough or breakthroughs this season; the management just need the confidence to play them and stick with them.
