It ought to be too soon but Walcott went to a WC at 17 so anything is possible. There was a dearth (where else but talking about footie does this word get used?) of midfield creativity in Russia so I can see him getting called up simply to remind the others just what that is. As for playing - it's a bit bonkers that a guy who has never started a league game could be considered for his country. Think of the depth of quality we've had in this area in the past and it beggars belief but there you go, this is a modern game now.
