SK Sturm Graz vs Nottingham Forest

Btw, you're all expecting creativity from a Sean Dyche side. You can't. History speaks for him. Everton sacked him exactly for that (failed to score in 11 games out of 19, only Soton scored less goals, third-fewest touches in the opposition’s box; season before only Sheffield United scored less). Football will be dire, slow and players will be left doing all by themselves in those rare situations when the ball reaches the final third which isn't exactly a recipe for success in 2025.
The same dyche who has the same stats with Everton as Nuno had with us last season? That dyche?

I swear he got taken off them in one of the Cooper seasons?

Am I making that up? I remember him missing more than one and being extremely nervy most of the time he had the ball…

But I may be confusing him with that Championship period where Grabban was missing them for fun and we played pass the parcel.
That’s his first missed pen for us according to the commentators

How many games has he started in the past 12 months though? Match fitness comes from playing and he hasn't had the chances either at City or here.
This is exactly why I suggested a week or two ago bringing back something like reserve team football to keep these players at least ticking over. We could of course make sure they turn out for the U23's now & then, though from what I've seen that football lacks any sort of intensity.

Either way, we & no doubt other teams as well need to find some way of keeping "fringe" players in the sort of condition that means they are ready to go when required as it seems clear that "just" training everyday doesn't do it

Next two games, Malmo and Utrecht. After that table will look very different. A point not great but not disastrous.

Not a great performance but we should have won given the chances we had. In the bigger picture a point away, with a clean sheet, is not so bad. Some of the fringe players weren’t match fit. We have games to come in the EL that we can certainly win.

Plus we have saved many of our first choice players for the ‘bigger’ match v Leeds. If we can win that, we will be in a better place.

Malmo and Utrecht are certainly the two worst performing teams so far, that we have been drawn against, though Utrecht did manage to draw at home to Porto tonight. Braga and Ferencvaros are both doing well, and look tougher nuts to crack, though hopefully some of our players will have recovered by then. Is Awoniyi injured, as I would have expected to see him tonight, or is he being rested ?

Not in Europa squad

Would have made a big difference tonight

Difficult to keep track of all these squads ! So Awoniyi and Hutchinson should be available for Leeds, along with Jesus (suspended tonight) , and Sels and Anderson (rested). Aina, Bakwa and Wood are injured, possibly along with CHO , Luiz, Zinchenko and Cunha ?

Think wood might be fit for leeds

I knew somebody would say that.

They train every other day.

You telling me training normally and being rested for about 8 games results in not being able to go 90 against a terrible Austrian team.

Give me a break. They’re professional athletes FFS.
First thing Dyche commented on when he came in. Too many players that weren't in match fit shape.
