Six Wins Out Of Eight For Automatic Promotion?

Indeed we can, Sir Dennis.

International break has come at the perfect time for us I think. As long as Chester returns injury-free (not so vitally important for anyone else, except possibly Elmo) and we have 2 weeks to regroup, iron out any issues and get people fit.

Bring it on!!

:94:

We are capable of winning all 8 but we are also capable of losing all 8 but 6 won't get us up unless Cardiff blow up under pressure but we seem to be the ones who can't handle pressure

I honestly can't see either Cardiff or Wolves blowing up now enough for it to matter - I'd love to be wrong mind you.

Six out of the eight would at least see us go into the Play Offs in good form however.

Sides without momentum always flop I think.

But I do think weirdly more get promoted from 4th place than 3rd - historically but I could be wrong.

Sure I read something about 3rd being the perceived easier route through when not entirely the case with the way home advantage goes.

I think him saying 6 wins out of 8 should be enough isn't particularly useful - it almost sends a message out to the players that he thinks we can lose 2, ok lads we can lose a quarter of our remaining games and we'll be ok.

Back in 74-5 when we won the last 8 to get second place and promotion, if we had lost 2 of those last 8 and those 2 were Sunderland and Norwich we wouldn't have gone up.

So which 2 can we afford to lose then? Not Cardiff for certain. If he has to say anything perhaps he should be pointing out the 7 on the trot earlier this season and that he sees no reason we cant go one better with the players we have, blah blah.

Modern psychology of putting the pressure on whilst keeping the pressure off 67 daftly.

Cardiff and Derby have got to be wins I'd think, I just don't want it to come down to the last day as Millwall are ticking along nicely under the radar.

McParland you are ahead of most clearly with your outlook lol

67 - I'm inclined to agree but I'm also of a mind what a manager says in public rarely matches what is said in private to players.

Given some of our performances you do wonder if he's given the teamtalk in Manc and forgot it should've been in Brummie possibly?

Either that or it's something for Off Topic's conspiracy thread lol

Throw in the geordie, the unique Hull dialect and you start to wonder. Perhaps team talks should be given by those who answer to the name of Ron.
