Should Gabby have a testimonial game

Let's spice this Sunday debate up a bit.
We all have our views on Gabby, regardless of that he's been at the club a long time and despite a colourful career with us he has banged in a lot of important goals .
Clearly the club won't be renewing his contract however should they be recognising his contributions by way of a testimonial game at some point after the season ends ?

Game?....... I thought last season was his testimonial season! Perhaps the small heath game was his testimonial game.

:15:

He's given us over ten years of service, not the most naturally gifted played but he was a part of the squad that finished 6th for three seasons and put the blues away a few times.

Hindsight I would've taken the cash Arsenal reportedly wanted him for (not sure if it was true or not) but nevertheless anyone who serves ten years at one club should get recognition.

On another note, I hope VP is the venue of choice for Gareth Barry's testimonial. I'd love to see him in a villa top one last time.

I did 31 years at my last job and got made redundant , I suggest Gabby get the same as I got Fuck all

It would possibly be the lowest attended testimonial game ever.

The only saving grace maybe is if he donated all the proceeds to charity , then a few more may go.

No, he should not have a testimonial. It would be embarrassing for the club to attempt to hold one and no-one turned up.

He's had his testimonial; 2 (?) seasons of being paid for non-performance.

In truth he gave us 3 or 4 years of "service", aka doing his job. Ever since MON left he has been getting very well paid for doing absolutely nothing. I'm not a Gabby hater and he can have a testimonial for all I care. I probably won't be breaking my back to attend it though.

I wouldn't dismiss the prospect of the madness of a new contract for the goal machine tbh.

A testimonial game does sound awfully tiring - perhaps a testimonial waddle around the pitch pushing a wheelbarrow full of cash and scoffing pies would be more fitting ?

"should they be recognising his contributions" :3: :3: :3:

I think I'm erring on the side of probably no!!!!

He plays every match as if it's a testimonial, so he probably doesn't really need an 'official' one.

Were the Club to organise one, it's safe to say I would probably not attend.

.
I actually think the turn out would be quite high.
Whenever he comes on as a sub for instance he still gets quite a loud reception of cheers especially from the Holte End.
All those Derby goals stick long in the memory of many and the years of dross are forgotten

The only way I'd go is if he paid 40000 people 50 quid each and put back some of the £3m a season he has robbed us of for the last 6 years .
Holte end love because they can sing the word Fuck to his catchy little ditty.

We might all get a shirt with Gabby on the back if we turn up . Bit like Olof's farewell but obviously size XXXL

Why do players need testimonials these days? In the past, yes, as they didn't get paid an awful lot and needed a few bob towards the long retirement from playing years.
But even the Gabbies of this world will have trousered millions during their careers.
Perhaps one of the preseason games each year should be a fund raiser for, say, Acorns?

Probably?!?!

He's fleeced the fans enough times over the years.

Bollocks to any testimonial for the twat.
