Ahh I didn’t realise that it wasn’t big money then I definitely prefer it being our own brand, for some reason I thought naming rights brought us big money and options.The reason is very simply, that having "Totenham Hotspur Stadium" on everything, as opposed to "Dickhead's Union Bank Stadium" is actually worth more in promoting the club brand, than any revenue paid from some outside company.
The investment for stadium rights its not as big as you might think. For example, Goons get £5m/yr from Emirates to put their name on there. (the shirt deal is an additional 45m I beleive). Everton scored a cherry deal at 10m, and in a report on 75 diff stadiums sponsor values around the world, Real Madrid can expect 21m euros.
Personally, I like it. Screams independence in a money driven world, whilst at the same time possibly being the smarter money move in the long run.
