Sheff Wed v Swans

Vital Football Legend
We’re off to South Yorkshire again this Saturday. After our fine 1-3 win at Rotherham in our last away match, we move 6 miles down the road to Sheffield.
The third oldest football club in England, Wednesday Football Club was founded in 1867 as an offshoot of Wednesday Cricket Club until they changed their name to Sheffield Wednesday Football Club in 1929. They moved to their Hillsborough ground in 1899 and have been there ever since.
They were founder members of the newly formed Premier League in 1992 until relegation in 2000.
Present owner is Thai businessman Dejphon Chansiri who bought the club from Milan Mandaric in 2014. Mandaric had previously rescued the club in 2010 after they almost folded due to unpaid tax bills.
Famous names who have managed the club include Steve Bruce, Ron Atkinson, Howard Wilkinson, David Pleat, Trevor Francis and Tony Pulis.
They started this season on -12 points after being found guilty of breaking spending rules, which was reduced to -6 points on appeal.
Ex-Swan Gary Monk lasted ten months there as manager before being fired last November. Tony Pulis took over and only lasted 45 days.
Neil Thompson has been caretaker manager since the end of December and has 5 wins out of the 7 games he’s been in charge, so we will have to be at our best to get any points from this one.
We drew 1-1 at the Liberty last November with Pulis their manager at the time, Ayew equalising in the 60’ after Reach had put Wednesday ahead in the 27’, but we could not get the winner against a big defensive side.

Bad timing playing these clubs. Unlucky with two postponed matches now, Blackburn waterlogged pitch and Wednesday frozen pitch.
However it didn’t affect Brentford when they had Covid in the camp and had matches postponed, they bounced back stronger, and we must do the same.

According to WalesOnLine Sheff Wed do have undersoil heating:
“Under the ownership of Dejphon Chansiri, the Owls spent £1m to install a new Desso GrassMaster pitch - the same as those used at Wembley, Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford and the San Siro - with new under-soil heating and drainage systems ahead of the 2015/16 campaign”

What a result for the Swans this afternoon!
Brentford 0 - Barnsley 2
Brentford could have gone back to the top of the Championship with victory against Barnsley.
Brentford's 21 game run without defeat in the Championship has come to an end.
Barnsley were without a league win in 2021.
Brentford are fed up of the sight of Barnsley. Barnsley had to win at Brentford on the final day of last season to stay up and deny the Bees automatic promotion, they won 1-2 there.
Just goes to show no result is nailed on in this crazy Championship, any team can beat the other, no matter who they are.
