Tottenham will be in the race to sign Luke Shaw if Manchester United make him available this summer, according to reports.

Yahoo Sports claim that Mauricio Pochettino remains a huge admirer of the 21-year-old, who he managed for 16 months at Southampton.

The report also claims that a swap deal involving Shaw and Danny Rose would be a ‘potential option’ for Tottenham.

Shaw was signed by United in a £30 million deal from Southampton in June 2014 but has struggled to forced his way back into Jose Mourinho’s side this season.

I can see adding Shaw but not losing Rose.

When have we sold a star player within the PL in recent times?

I do have a concern about big offers being used to pay for the stadium. But Levy has kept transfer money more or less separate from operating funds and capital expenditures up until now so I am hoping the trend continues.

I actually think think that Poch may well be tempted if the Shaw+money deal is silly enough.

I know I would be, and I've been predicting Rose's rise here to the top of his profession since I first watched him play at LB..

Before his transfer to and even after, (but before his leg break) I really did think that Shaw would end up better than Rose; he had/has? more pace, better passing and whilst I thought that defensively he had a bit to learn (he was often getting caught out of position), his tackling was for the most part spot on..

As I say, I'd be seriously tempted if it was Shaw plus #25 mill !

Whilst he's slipped in his progression, I do think he'll recover and he will kick on again. :10:

Shaw is top class, if they were to offer silly money plus Shaw I agree we would take it.

It would not be a downgrade, as when fit he has been class for United.

plus we could use the 25 million to buy another Janssen, what is not to like?

Before his injury problems Shaw was ahead of Rose.

He is very injury prone, so would be a concern.

I think we should be looking at a young LWB, athletic understudy for Rose. Plenty around, so we shouldn't have any problems finding one.

The wing backs system is something Poch won't budge on so he might as well get in the right personnel.

This has to be a complete no no. We will be handing Manure the best left back in the league, the finished article. Shaw has shown promise, but even if he remains injury free it would take him two or three years to get anywhere near the level Rose is now. That is assuming he has the ability/mentality. The current Saints left back is a better bet as a Rose replacement.

Shaw is on 140k a week apparently..... why would we pay him anywhere near that and he's a downgrade.
Agent bollocks most likely

How many of those injuries are down to his body? From what I recall the 2 main ones have been bad tackles.

Could be wrong

There must be somehting fundamentally wrong with Shaw...if as many on here say he is class...then why is he not a regular in Manure...don't touch with a brgepole IMO

I wouldnt sell rose at the moment. The only issue I have with Danny is that he is very often injured. well shaw isnt much better. so, no thanks. selling rose would be the wrong direction.

Danny doesn't want to go. He has said as much.
If however we got offered £30-40M and we sold I too would go for Bertrand.
I don't want to see anyone go. We are two or three players away from consistently challenging for the title IMO

Robertson would be a very good replacement if we sell Davies or Rose...

LOSE OUR DANNY? No thank you! The thought of it!
As so many have said WHY WOULD WE WANT TO LOSE SUCH A GOOD PLAYER?
The best in the league?
We'll swap Davies for Shaw, yes.
