Set pieces

Even at Sunday league level they can put the ball into the bloody box from a corner. And that's after being out until 3am on the lash and playing with a gut full of donner kebab churning away, threatening to make a sudden reappearance. There's literally no excuse for any one of the 10 outfield professional footballers on the pitch to not be able to get the ball into the box from a corner.

It makes us look so fucking amateur.
I'm sure we aren't the only team with this problem, I don't pay attention to other teams really, but fucking hell man we should at least have a guy who can consistently hit a corner. What does it say about how overvalued footballers are these days?

Fucking 40 million quid for players who can't hit a consistent corner is absurd to the point of being insulting to the rest of the world.

It’s an absolute disgrace. We’ve ventured beyond the point of them being inconsistent - they’re consistently fucking woeful. Every single corner or free kick we take is pathetic without fail.. it’s not even worth getting excited for when we get one. I can’t remember the last good one. Can’t be anyone in any league at any level worse than us - physically impossible.

They’re either
A) straight to the head of the first man
B) some floaty shit that the keeper takes with ease
C) some floaty shit nowhere near where somebody can head it
D) (my personal favourite)… some dogshit short corner that’s made with absolutely no thought as to what to do with it and either gets cut out and they break, or we end up going backwards.

It’s so unacceptable how we have a coaching team that hasn’t identified that issue, let alone address it - how can a premier league club with resources like us simply watch that shit week in week out when SO many teams use it to get goals and just allow it… particularly given we’re so dog awful in open play.

EDIT: oh sorry, I forgot E) kick the ball straight out of play from the corner quadrant

Shit I only played until u13s and our corners were at least as good as Forest's

Of all the things that are shit about Forest this season, I think this annoys me the most because it’s SO unacceptable not to get right. It’s actually not an exaggeration to say that you or I or anyone on this forum could go on to that pitch and stick a better corner in. They’re THAT bad.

The other really irritating things are that firstly there is more danger to us from being caught on the break when the “ routine” inevitably goes wrong & second I can remember multiple times over the years when we’ve been caught dozing by other teams short corners leading to goals but we seem
Incapable of doing same thing
When the opposition have a set piece or corner i'm almost wincing as the ball comes in as we seem to come close to conceding so often from them , when we have one i'll invariably be posting crap on here and not taking much notice as i know it'll come to nothing anyway.

Add to that to our generally woeful crossing & shooting in normal play then it's no wonder we're struggling so much.

Is it the crossing that's woeful or is it the lack of bodies in the box to aim for tat makes it look worse than it is. Having typed that I don't suppose it matters which it is, it's all amounts to the same thing, useless

I would not be so sure about that.

I agree that it is unacceptable for professional players not to be able to deliver a ball into the box that poses some kind of threat, but thinking anyone on the Forum could do better is sheer folly.

I would bet that the number on here who have actually played the game barely runs into double figures.

Dyche has allegedly expressed an interest in one of his old players who is one of the best set piece takers in the league, but no one wants us to sign him.

I know I fucking could. Who’s the player? Sorry for being thick.

So could I. And after 15 months out injured, aged 55, I will be making a triumphant return to the pitch this Friday night in our over 45 indoor league. So there

A goal from a corner, and a second from a penalty after our free kick. Set pieces improved (though we also conceded from a corner).

Not sure about the corner but the penalty was very good imo. Mgw has missed em but saw their keepers size and mindful of the worldie he pulled off earlier went straight down the middle- perfect strategy for me.

Thinking on it- the ball by anderson was much flatter than the usual shit we see floated in. We should make all our wingers watch the replay.

Just wish he would lift the ball more, which position he places it. I always expect him to miss, but his stats prove otherwise I think?
