Sergio Aguero 2016-2017

Aguero pledges his future to City ( again ).

“I never had problems with Guardiola nor vice versa. He’s always tried to help me and given me advice. After the Paraguay game, I was feeling very bad and Guardiola helped me a lot.

“For the moment, I’m fine at Manchester City, and when I leave it will be to return to Independiente.

“How long has it been rumoured about (going to) Real Madrid? I’m very happy at City and more so now with Pep here.”

How long do you give it to the next 'Aguero wants out' or 'Pep wants rid' headline?

He couldn't make it more plain, could he. Perhaps this will stem the tide of those sharticles, but I won't hold my breath.

I hope that SA10 stays till the end of career here and then moves on to a lesser club like Real Madrid for one swan song before going home or staying and having a Styand named after him.

Garth Crooks, a 'pundit' for whom I could have less respect gives his contradictory twopeneth on the subject of how Guardiola is managing the talent that is Sergio Agüero

"Guardiola playing a dangerous game with Aguero at Man City" reports Goal.com

http://www.goal.com/en/news/1862/premier-league/2016/11/28/29971162/-

Essentially he seems to be implying that Agüero should be handled with kid gloves, that his "air of disapproval" at being substituted late on in the Palace game is a sign that there is a danger of Agüero throwing his toys out of the pram and heading off to play golf in Argentina for six months.

His logic seems a bit twisted and contradictory - admitting that the substitution was made for tactical reasons to close the game out I can't quite understand why he feels this could have been achieved without taking off the striker. He also ignores the need for the coach to be able to manage his side without being held to ransom by having a player who feels he is untouchable. Not having a hcked off player is indeed important, but so is not skewing the whole team morale and work ethic by creating a situation where they feel they are treated by a different standard.

Once again this illustrates the pallid nature of his vacuous comments - unprovable views expressed from the safe position of never having to have these comments judged by the harsh reality of an actual game. Had Agüero not been replaced and City drawn/lost the game you can bet he would have been banging on about the need for Guardiola needing to "learn how to close games down in the premier league. Retaining Agüero when he should have taken him off for a more defensive player to shut the game down would have been wiser"

See Garth? Even I can make stuff up.

Kun made a statement re City then Independiente only a couple of weeks ago.
These reporters/ analysts or whatever don't deserve any airtime.

When did Bleacher Report start hiring people who can write? Good piece that.

An outstanding piece bout one of the most special players ever to pull on a City short. It has been (and still is) a privilege to watch him play for us.

His absence from the PFA awards etc says more about those responsible for the nominations and selections than it does about Sergio and his talent.

I think I've said this before but I will repeat. It's all because it's City he plays for. If he was at any of the old Sky 4 clubs, he would have been lauded to the skies every year (no pun intended).

Yeah, that took me by surprise as well :034:

Enjoyed every line, must have been written by a blue and how true. I think had SA10 been bought by Real or Barca, then his goal tally would be much higher.

The premier started in 92, 14 years ago and only 25 players so far have go to the 100 goals mark. of those only Three still play in the top flight and only 7 have been a one man Club, if SA10 keeps his scoring going at the rate he does he may well be near the top in tally by the time he does say goodbye.

Overheard recently whilst waiting for a cab outside Manchester Picadilly;

'Aguero's alright but I'd still have David Cross ahead of him in my all time City XI'

'For his height?'

'No, for his resale value - of course it's for his height you numpty'.

Honestly, you could't make it up!

David Cross 13 clubs in his 17 years of playing, played one season with City scoring 13 goals in 31 games and was 32 at the time and nowhere near the class of Aguero, I think the numpty was driving the taxi.

Whilst not comparing Aguero because I would not swap him, I would choose Brian Kidd over David Cross, BK scored 52 in 203 apps for the rags but scored 44 in 98 for us, I never did understand why we sold such a prolific scorer

Maybe they meant Phil Boyer? A fox in the box but not so much outside of it.

Did Kidd go to Arsenal after he left us? - grey matter failing me.

As expected.

His reputation is on a knife edge. After his petulant hand to Reid's threat to this poor, frustrated challenge. All grist to the mill for opponents who will be out to wind him up.

Our disciplinary record this season - four players banned already. :013:
