Sergio Agüero - his future

And so the game of smoke, mirrors and shadow dancing goes on......

"Sergio Aguero: Striker says Manchester City have not spoken to him about his future"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39141840

So the club have said they are not intending in selling him; Guardiola has said several time since he wants him to stay but it still seems that someone has to put their arm around the guy and show him some love. :022: At least he hasn't asked for a cake.

The shadow dancing and manoeuvring continues

It was significant that when Pep was asked about Sergio in a presser (I think it was the last one) He said that all the players had to convince him and that decisions would be made at the end of the season, if those players out of contract negotiated away from the Club then that is the players decision.

When asked if any of these decisions would/could be brought forward Pep stuck to his guns and said the end of the season.

I think this is fair, Pep will know by the end what players want to play the pep way and what players he needs to let go because of various things.

rumours are that Hart has gone because he was too big an influence in the dressing room and pep is understood to have the belief that her is the only influence that should be in the dressing room.

This of course does not apply to Sergio who never causes a stir, if it was me I would want to know now, but they way to make sure was to pull my tripe out and make sure I was in pep's plans (if I wanted to stay that is)

The only thing that concerns me is that, until now, the only thing Kun has (repeatedly) said, is how happy he is, and how he has no plans to move on. The fact that he is saying anything else would seem to indicate that not everything in the garden is rosy.

I agree with you, though, Buzz, that Pep is sticking to his guns about assessing players at the end of the season. I just hope that Kun is okay with this!

Mind you, he certainly doesn't appear to be sulking on the pitch.

So let us imagine a worse case scenario - Aguero for whatever reason is on the market this Summer - who replaces him? - a bidding war with the rags over Griezman? Who will come knowing that if Aguero isn't first choice then they almost certainly won't be - and we can't rely on a 19 year old (ok, 20 this time next year) staying injury free/on form etc for a whole term.

Re comments about Hart - add VK4's injuries, Kiplings absence and now question marks over Aguero then that is pretty much the whole spine of the team that has in one way or another been put out of joint.

This will upset some, particularly those of the Guinness persuasion.

Despite . the recent performances of RS ( Particularly against Uddersfield) , assuming all fit, my preferred front three , would be , LS, SA , GJ.

Where this leaves KI, heaven knows , but the above three, with RS back up as a fourth striker, makes sense to me.

A couple of more years under GJ's belt , sell SA , and move GJ central flanked by LS and RS.

Prepared for incoming .

I won't shoot at you seac!

I have said previously, even in my profiles of Guardiola way back in pre-season, that there are no passengers in a Pep side. Everyone has to work hard, all the time, no special treatment for anyone.

Sergio's performance against Monaco and especially Huddersfield has set the bar, the benchmark as it were against which he should judge himself let alone how the coach views it. That level of commitment and effort and unselfish play etc is the norm expected - no weekends with the foot off the gas trying to coast through games. Force the coach to play you and don't expect any favours

We can't allow him to leave, it's as simple as that.
Another couple of K a week and he'll be fine.

Love it, no incoming from me.

I think he either goes in the summer or he sees out the rest of his contract before going back to Argentina. I don't think it's about money. I think he expects to be first choice, and the arrival of Godsboy has forced him to reappraise his position. His improved performances in the last couple of games suggests that he's risen to the challenge.
With Kun 'on board' we have an absolutely devastating front 3/4/5 and I'm not sure we need to choose a 'best' 3. All of them will get plenty of game time, and the inevitable injuries will mean 'rotating' shouldn't become too big a problem :048:
