I know a few have them, indeed I like to follow the fortunes of my local team in Norway, but could you ever support another team in any way that could be in the same competition as Villa/England/your home nation? I just can't do it.

For me, my somewhat tepid support of Odd Grenland is contingent on the fact that they might as well be playing a different sport to Villa, they are never likely to meet and in the unlikely circumstance that both should qualify for European competition I would abandon all support for Odd until either Villa were knocked out or the competition was over. I would still support them in the domestic league of course, but that will never affect Villa.

As for international football, I'm English! I'm pleased for those around me when Norway do well (unless it's at the expense of England) but in no way support them. I like to see the home nations do well but I would not class that as support.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!

In fact, if anyone ever uses the phrase 'they're my second team' you should be allowed, legally, to burn their house down. If they divulge that their second team is someone like Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea etc... then you should be allowed to burn down their house and use their body to beat out the embers.

Also, if you see anyone wearing a 'half-and-half' scarf in a stadium you are morally obliged to strangle the wearer with the offending garment.

There are a handful of other teams that I like, a few I don't mind one way or the other, a fair few I dislike and a load I hate. Only one I love.

'Second team' suggests you follow them and invest emotion into them - that's worse than cheating on your wife in my opinion!

Second team is Cardiff because that's where half of my family is from and I've been to watch them a few times, I think my first Cardiff game was in league 1 (might have been called division 2 back then)

I also look out for Leicester as they're my local team when I'm at Uni.

I wouldn't say I massively support them, I just hope they do well, obviously it doesn't affect my support for the villa even when they're playing eachother.

Don't have second team. Im born and raised in aldershot so watch out for them as i do swindon as i have a few mates who are fans and often go to games. Rest of my family support man utd so i quite like them.

Wouldn't go as far to say any are my "second team"

I think it's impossible to support two teams equally. Anyone who says they can are either lying, or not really supporting any team at all. I have my local team Luzenac, whose recent glory I have written about in the Open Terrace forum, but they are like a little furry pet, or a favourite toy. Villa are in my bones and blood.

Pretty much how I feel about Odd Grenland.

I like to see all the West Yorkshire teams do well and also a few foreign teams that I have won a lot of money betting on , Ruch Chorzow, Bursaspor, and of course I'm sure we all favour one of the big Scottish sides, my preference being Rangers.

Um well my other team is in the AFA: Parkfield AFC which was started by my Grandparents in the 1920's. Our family/extension of/friends was soaked in football even before I was born.

My Great Grandfather used to take my Grandma down to VP back in the early years. My Grandparents started Parkfield when my eldest Uncle's/family and friends on my Mom side used to use the Old Paddock of Dr Sangster to play football.

It was always Villa & Parkfield. If you weren't at a Parkfield game you had to be at VP. So Claret & Blue and the Yellow & Green of Parkfield was our lives.

As the family died off and it went into extended families hands it was sold off in the millennium. I still keep some contact with the secretary of the club I reconnected with before Mom died and through the Midlands media papers.

Not really a 2nd team in that sense. Just fond memories etc. etc.

Here's the link for anyone interested. There is a photo on the site of my family taken at Christmas of around 1950. My Grandparents, my Mom and Uncles.

As for international teams, I also follow Greece. Our love of Kefelonia and all Greek explains that.

no way. i agree no second teams for me. my blood is purely claret and blue..... i would even say im more villa than english! on the flip side i am a tamworth lad so the odd win for the tammies makes me half smile but i have no obssessed feelings with them... just a light local connection at best.... defo no where near classing them.as a second team. more like a likeable neighbour or a long lost cousin

or actually maybe dosthill colts..... a team we set up way back in 1990.... started off with just us playing in the park with our dads... now they have a semi pro adult team and a home ground. from small seeds hey. thats actually a claim to fame

Col and Pride.

Do you remember a left back Steve Clarke who used to play for Tamworth? Dirty bugger

No second team for me, but some nice 'football' stories above, it's a special thing in your life and I can't imagine many sports with the hold football has.

I haven't got a second team but I have taken an interest in Jarrow Roofers since their name came up once in the F.A.Cup 1st round. I liked the name and how can you not take an interest in a team that has battled against the likes of West Allotment Celtic, Norton and Stockton Ancients and Seaham Red Star to get promotion from Northern League Division 2. And their captain is David Kirkup, a.k.a. Captain Kirk.
Come on you Roofers!

Back in the good old days when Football Italia was on Channel 4 with AC Jimbo, I used to support Inter because my brother supported AC but I could never really get into them.
