I think last year i renewed my gold season membership at the end of february in the first available window. I fully expect to pay more this year
But the club has difficult decisions to make. Will we be playing in League One or the Championship? We have a change in chairman and control of the club and are expecting to hear of extra expenditure on possibly ground improvements etc. Plus Championship wages and recruitement of Championship ready players will obviously increase our wage bill significantly. I dont think it is unreasonable to increase membership prices to help towards these increased costs.
But there are a lot of ifs and somebody will need to use a crystal ball to make a decision.
The club have never tried to 'rip us off' in the past and have faith they wont do now.
 
Have every faith the club will do the right thing, but it’s a really difficult balance - prices have to go up if we’re in the championship. I for one would be willing to pay more, but it’s not guaranteed and usually around now season ticket prices are out around now.
 
Can anybody remember what happened in the 2020/21 season when of course it went right to the end of May before we knew what division we would be in?

It doesn't look like there was any allowance made for which division we were to be in, although sales started late. This is what I have:

28 April 2021: The season ticket renewal window opens at 10am. A four-tier membership system will operate from this season: Gold+ (full season ticket plus replica shirt), Gold (full season ticket), Silver (a five-match bundle) and Bronze (MyImps membership). The number available for Gold+ and Gold memberships will be capped at 6,300. Despite the club being unable to accept debit and credit card payments due to global problems with merchant providers, over 1,100 are renewed in the first 8 hours.

5 May 2021: Season ticket renewals pass 2,500.

12 May 2021: Season ticket renewals reach 3,000.

17 May 2021: Season ticket renewals pass 3,600.

24 May 2021: Season ticket renewals pass 4,000.

28 May 2021: The season ticket renewal window closes at 5pm.
 
I think it is wise for the board to wait a little, if Championship football is within our grasp then we should see comparable pricing to that effect.
 
I expect the club will do the right thing with renewals but just possibly reduce the window for the early bird ones to encourage more to commit in the first couple of weeks of them being out

I am not so sure.

Season tickets will still have to be priced so the vast majority of people will buy them again.

A rise inline with inflation is what I sort of expect.

The disparity in budgets for us and most other clubs would be huge in the Championship....but our budget would get towards doubling just due to TV money.

Any possible change is season ticket income would be dwarfed by that.

So the decision is likely to be taken in that context.

Not sure that helps. The promotion price may not be agreeable/affordable to some in the early bird window, whereas a small rise is. The reward system for early purchase could be thrown into chaos.

Imo expect a large rise for promotion (for the unprecedented level of football we are talking about). If that is not agreeable to some, they should hope we don’t get promotion.
Pretty sure Luton used this system (they have similar ground size/similar high demand for seats)

You may well be correct. Times are tough for some and a large rise could turn some away as they can't justify the cost no matter how "unprecedented" it may be.
The club will almost certainly try to strike a balance. Clearly they aren't stupid, as they don't often get things like this wrong. The worry might be losing ticket sales if the rise is too big.
I'm fortunate enough to be relatively financially comfortable and will probably renew regardless. For sure, I wouldn't be visiting many away grounds if we start talking £50+ for 60 minutes of football.

Just checked oxford’s advanced match ticket prices, similar ground size to us - £26-37… so not that far off ours now.

So how much are you paying the higher or lower rate. Does the club then refund if we don’t go up - too complicated.
I suspect renewal prices will see modest increase, if we were to be in Championship new prices higher.
Of course the same conversation happens again the following season regarding should we be relegated etc.

It really isn’t complicated if you have a bank account, ticket refund is already set up (as is buyback).
Good point about relegation, I suppose most season ticket holders would expect to pay less? How do you decide this in February?
