Posted on change.org, Stu Dent of Sheffield writes: "The deliberations in Westminster are becoming increasingly irrelevant to the north of England.

The needs and challenges of the north cannot be understood by the endless parade of old Etonians lining the front benches of the House of Commons.

"The north of England should join the newly independent Scotland and regain control over its own destiny."


If this gains momentum and with the Northerners sick of Westminster could this end up happening?

Hahaha. That would be hilarious. Scotland and Northern England run by a socialist government and the south of England run by the 1%. Perhaps it would descend into a north vs south thing like Sudan? Would the Scots still have Trident? I'm imagining hoard of blue faced gingers rampaging through the streets of a bombed out London.

Spoof, but understandable in some ways, the North does get left behind, even the Midlands does.

You only have to look at the national stadium, even some Londoners voted it to be by the NEC for ease of access. Wembley area is shite, the transportation etc... but no, everything has to be in London.

The flipside, London makes massive money in the financial markets and would be richer still if they didn't pay out for North and Scotland!

Yes, totally agree, gets on your tits, old fashioned mentality that a national stadium had to be in the capital. More of the country could have used it in a very central location and easy for all, but there we go.

First of all its not a spoof The Huffington post raised this a year ago and slung it out again today apparently the total votes for it is up to about 27.000 So I reckon give em it goodbye Man. Winchester was the first capital city of England.

Din Guardi (Bamburgh Castle) is the oldest capital some 300 years before York.

I don't think this is about the right here and now happening dudes more so a wake up call for Westminster that they can not keep making London there only priority and more help and effort is needed and wanted in other parts of the UK not just London all the time, if the politicians keep being biased to area's then i can defo see this break up happening tbh ''in time'' not anytime soon though
