Score Predictions v Gillingham

Steve Evans being complimentary about us, and certainly does not share the belief (particularly prevalent in Sunderland) that League One is a poor division:

"For me if you finish above Lincoln in EFL 1 you will most likely be Champions, although the likes of Accrington, Hull, Portsmouth and especially Peterborough United will play major parts in who plays Championship football next season.

"My job, and that of the staff, is to make sure we are ready for such a tough match in what is the best League 1 for many years."

I think we'll win a tough, niggly and hard fought (i.e. sh*t to watch) game 1-0... Scully scoring a scrappy goal following a corner.

More from Steve Evans:

“Lincoln City is a great football club. My daughter went to the university in the city, we have a little place there which we rent out, we love the city but it’s our job to go there on Tuesday night and do well. This is a real footballing side with craft and flair and a desire to win matches. They have had a rest, which makes them really dangerous. They have top players and even players on the bench that would get into most teams.

“Anyone who finishes above Lincoln will be promoted to the Championship. They are an outstanding side. They have a manager (Michael Appleton) that I have the upmost [sic] respect for. He’s coached in the Premier League. They are talented and have recruited very well. We will need to be at our best.”

Translation: "If we lose it's expected, if we win it proves how good a manager I am to win against a team that brilliant."

Warning - they are the most inconsistent, unpredictable team in the division, so we just have to be at our most clinical and kill them off. They lost to Burton and Northampton, then went and won at Accrington. Obviously one of those teams where it depends who gets off the bus. Having said that, you can be sure Evans will have them wound up and Oliver and Akinde will have a point to prove and will both be champing at the bit to play.
