Church of Scientology opens Birmingham HQ

The Church of Scientology has opened a £4.2m HQ in Birmingham. Grade II listed Pitmaston House, in the Moseley suburb, was snapped up in 2007 by the group, which was founded by science fiction author L Ron Hubbard.

-------------

Lock up your family idiots people, a religion from a science fiction writer who used said religion to benefit only himself is now officially established in Birmingham.

Giggle and point - it's the garlic bread of the future with these people.....or you can play with them and waste their time like I did when I was 14 and see how a £15 book after three hours drops in price to a fiver as they get desperate PMSL

Yeah, I saw that on the Midland News today.

I see they wouldn't put anyone forward when the BBC asked for an interview.

You guys are just suppressive people. Scientology is cleaning up the world one bank account at a time.

I got caught up in traffic caused by this on my way to the match yesterday.

Didn't see Tom Cruise though.

Aye, was going to say what Heath did, would be funny if not for the fact they ruin lives.

They've just opened one a mile up the road from us. At the last census, 97 people here said they were Scientologists, yet this place has a conference centre which holds 1,300. :69:

Evil at work.

Sad really. Hopefully not too many get caught up in their scam.

Lisa-Marie cited her money and freedom as her reason for leaving. At the time she said, "I was slowly starting to self-destruct. They were taking my soul, my money, my everything."

Where is that BBJ? Is that the one that opened up in Dublin?

I caught the end of a news report the other day about one opening in Dublin somewhere

SJH, it's on the Firhouse Road, just past the Supervalu shopping centre across the road. I believe it used to be an old time religion-style revival hall.

I used to have a Scientologist working for me. She was great at work.

I got to know her a bit over her time with us. She was born into it, which is rare. She considered herself to be an active Scientologist despite never attending any 'religious' service during her time with us. I believe all that is required to be an active Scientologist is to kick up a portion of your wages.

It doesn't take a whole lot of research to see what a cynical organisation Scientology is. She totally couldn't see it though. 'The Church' could do no wrong and anything that cast them in a bad light was a lie spread by 'suppressive people'. The parallels with Trump are amazing.

That's not far from me either in Greenhills. I can't believe people will actually sign up to that nonsense, especially with the documentaries about it that have been made over the last couple of years.

Fancy meeting there later with a few cans of petrol and a box of matches?

You naughty young man! :22:

Actually, the 'First Church of Christ, Scientist' in Stratford has (fairly recently) had a bit of a makeover and looks quite swanky now, compared with what went before.

Amazing what a boatload of tax-free cash can do.

And therein's the truth, at least outside of America as I understand. Your portion up your wages and your a member - but a basic member who won't grow and they don't mind that as long as they get a couple of grand a year out of you/

And Scientologists are forbid to search about Scientology, anybody who does has been overcome by their demons so instantly can't be believed or treated seriously.

Scientology mastered what even the Catholic church couldn't - never self question.

As you say comparisons to Trump are evident, but he's not as good at it - that's why he says 4 different things and the White House give 2 more contradictory answers lol

John Oliver has shut down his Church now sadly. I was actually considering joining that one lol

Tax free cash. Funny us poor people, even with schemes designed for us, can never really take advantage isn't it.
