In what's being heralded as a secular triumph, the UK government has banned the teaching of creationism as science in all existing and future academies and free schools.

The government released a new set of funding agreements in a little noticed document last week, including clauses which specifically prohibit pseudoscience.

The funding agreement defines creationism as "any doctrine or theory which holds that natural biological processes cannot account for the history, diversity, and complexity of life on earth and therefore rejects the scientific theory of evolution," and goes on to note that this idea is rejected not only by the scientific community but most mainstream churches as well.

"It does not accord with the scientific consensus or the very large body of established scientific evidence; nor does it accurately and consistently employ the scientific method, and as such it should not be presented to pupils at the Academy as a scientific theory," the agreement states.

so my question still stands; Do you still doubt the Tories?

This is quite astonishing news actually because one of the best performing schools in the country teaches Creationism.

You need to start expressing what you really mean, HR. All this repression is not good for your mental state.

I know, BBJ. It's something I must get sorted one day, and learn to express myself. If not, I may need help!!!!

What great news. Maybe one kid who is now taught proper Science will go on and find the solution to Bacterial resistance to Antibiotics, or some other great discovery.

I doubt it Heath - maybe chaos instead, who knows, its a new era for mankind. It will(well it is) be interesting to watch how humanity develops with faith eliminated. Be different from when we were kids with prayers in assembly, bible studies etc. I wonder if Christmas and Easter will be eliminated one day too with no public holidays? Religious ceremonies for christenings, weddings, death could all be gone as well one day. We are being erased.

It's so cute that people actually think they are religious holidays anyway. They are all hijacked dates from other belief systems to make the transition to Christianity easier. We managed before, and we'll manage without it now, as you say.

shouldn't it be still 'taught' (in the loosest sense)and held up to the ridicule it rightly deserves ?

But then there's something seriously wrong when 'faith' schools are encouraged and selection by actual ability isn't

Poor response Bringback - the Bible should never be seen as to ridicule. This just for its impact on ALL of humanity and life alone. It also presents us with fantastic history of events, people and places. Just because you cannot connect with the supernatural events/listings it dosnt mean you cannot connect with any of it.
