SB and EPC Pitches

Went down to the LNER today.

The Stacey West end is more like the Lincolnshire Wolds than a football pitch. Topsoil, the height of a lorry, covers much of that area, and on top are two large excavators.

If the pitch level is being raised to sort out the drainage issues, god help those in the front few rows. :grinning:

Pretty heavy duty stuff going on there. Can’t see any home friendlies taking place. In fact, will it be ready for the new season or will we play the first couple of games away?

That all depends.

Can't remember correctly or not that the club mentioned that the new pitch would be a hybrid one or not, it is it could be ready in a couple of weeks, and also if the costs mentioned previously it fits in with a hybrid pitch.

Still beggars belief that we can do this, but Leeds United were playing on a pitch laid for Euro'96 up until six months ago. And then bought a second hand one earmarked for last autumn's NFL games at Spurs, that turned out to be worse (relaying it in the winter wouldn't help!)

I take it we aren't adding under-soil heating. Not even in that corner that always suffers most from frost.

John Beck has just called - he says "that'll do". Just needs the donkey and deckchairs now.

Looks like the amount of soil, gravel, sand, etc might have raised the pitch level. Will the team be going on high altitude training over the summer to acclimatise 🤔. As per Beck - any advantage 🤣😂
