Sam Johnstone. Can we keep him please?

Yes I think he has all the attributes to go to the top.

Would like him to come off his line for crosses a bit more , but that is a minor point.
 
The 3rd best keeper in Europe’s top 5 leagues (England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France) according to the stats behind 1. Ruddy and 2. Oblak (Atletico) with 20 clean sheets. If we don’t go up he’ll be playing in the premier league regardless imo.
 
Unlike Joe Hart who is the 3rd worst keeper in Europe according to stats .

Johnstone has done well in the main , wish he'd command his area a bit more especially at corners.
Pulled off a few great saves and I believe he will get better .
I used to hear that about Carson but never in a million years would he ever be a top keeper . I think I said so after he'd played 2 games for us and got ridiculed for it .
Johnstone is Ok, he's no Spinksy or Bozzie but he might be one day

I have to agree with that. He's a good keeper. He's solid enough and does his job. If he keeps going the way he is, he might be a great keeper one day.
 
He'd be worth the investment. Another year with us could do him a lot of good, even if we're in the Championship. Maybe a contract with a clause in it which gives him other options if we stay down for too long. Or simply a three year contract, where after 2 years it would be in our interest to sell if we're still stuck down here.
 
He is remarkably composed for such a young goalkeeper. Another year playing behind Chester/Terry/Jedinak will do him the world of good too.
Makes such a difference to have the right goalkeeper. Instills a sense of confidence in the team in front of you and can be worth a few wins on its own... Haven’t felt this confident in a Villa keeper since Friedel.

I also think that, if he can clear up his injury issues, that Steer could eventually become very good too...
